Doncaster racecourse hosts seven contests on Friday

There is some quality National Hunt action from Doncaster on Friday afternoon in their Virgin Bet-backed meeting on Town Moor.

They have seven races, with action running from 2pm until 5.20pm, at the famous Yorkshire venue.

Ground conditions are forecast to be 'Good to soft-soft in places' and we have picked five horses for you to follow.

2.30pm - Virgin Bet Mares' Handicap Hurdle (2m½f)

Merry Mistress will surely have her turn soon. David Dennis' charge has shaped nicely in three hurdles runs since winning at Hereford in November.

MIDNIGHT CALLISTO, however, had some pleasing form in the book prior to last month's Exeter win over this trip on good to soft ground.

She coasted away from her rivals in that maiden contest under today's rider Ben Godfrey and perhaps the assessor has let her in lightly off 105 with that run in mind.

LiveScore selection: Midnight Callisto

3.05pm - Virgin Bet Novices' Hurdle (2m½f)

Brian Hughes has been booked for Call Of The Wind

There is not much between Boombawn and CALL OF THE WILD on paper.

The former was third behind Jonbon at Newbury in November when last spotted, though probably is flattered by his proximity to that unbeaten star (nine-lengths).

Alan King's runner meanwhile was just touched off by progressive Onemorefortheroad at Stratford on his hurdles bow in October before landing a Kempton novices' contest the following month.

The pair of them are returning from mid-winter breaks now and, despite a 7lb penalty, Call Of The Wind gets the nod to give champion-jockey elect Brian Hughes another winner.

3.40pm - Virgin Bet Handicap Chase (2m3f)

This is very open and it wouldn't be a shock if Numitor rebounded from a poor showing at Sandown in January, but JOKE DANCER has sound claims for Sue Smith and Ryan Mania.

The Authorized gelding turned in his best effort of the season so far at Wetherby (1m7f, soft) last month having undergone a wind operation, finishing close third behind a progressive winner and next-time-out scorer.

He goes back up in trip here and is well-handicapped if building on that run.

4.15pm - Virgin Bet EBF Mares' 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle (2m3½f)

Last month's C&D second from Moonamacaroona was an improved showing but that was essentially a very good chance for Alan King's mare to open her account over timber and she couldn't quite grasp it.

She gets 12lb from doubly-penalised COREY'S COURAGE now but even that might not sway things.

Olly Murphy's daughter of Dunaden has won all three starts thus far, a bumper at Uttoxeter last April and novice hurdles at Bangor and the Midlands venue since January.

She could be well above average and may taking some stopping here.

LiveScore selection: Corey's Courage

5.20pm - Virgin Bet Handicap Hurdle (2m3½f)

TWOSHOTSOFTEQUILA won a maiden at Sedgefield (2m1f, soft) on Boxing Day and has been second in both starts since at Newcastle and then returned to the former venue.

The 5YO appeared to appreciate the step up in distance last time and was a touch unfortunate as the front-running winner held him off late on, the pair clear.

Rebecca Menzies' charge is turned out again eight days on from an unchanged mark and has 5lb in hand on his future rating.
