LiveScore Racing News: Cobblers Dream to head straight to Cheltenham
Trainer Ben Case is targeting the Coral Cup at Cheltenham for Cobblers Dream following his recent run at Kempton.
The six-year-old won the Listed Coral Handicap Hurdle earlier this month, finishing over five lengths clear of Highway One O Two.
That followed success at Doncaster in December, where he won another handicap race, and now big things are expected of the son of Ascot Gold Cup winner Yeats.
Rather than give him another run before Cheltenham Festival, Case's plan is to send him straight to Prestbury Park for the prestigious March.
Several races are being discussed for his entry, but the one Case is hoping for is the Coral Cup, which takes place on Wednesday.
Cobblers Dream, owned by Lady Jane Grosvenor, is set to make his first appearance at the festival.
Afterwards, a trip across the Irish Sea to Punchestown is also on the cards if he performs well.
Case said: "The plan is to go to the Coral, I think. I have entered him in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle as well. The plan is to really go to the Coral, but it was really just in case he would not get in the race and would be on the cusp of getting in.
"Obviously, the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle will be an option as well. He will have entries in all three, but Plan A is go to the Coral and then possibly go to Punchestown if he comes out of it all right. Let's worry about getting to Cheltenham in one piece.
"He will go straight there, and he is fine, absolutely full of himself."
Cobblers Dream won on debut at Cork in April before Case started training him.
He won at Warwick before third and second-place finishes at Kempton and Wetherby, respectively.
