Jurgen Klopp hailed Liverpool's "top-class" training camp in Germany despite seeing his side held to a surprising 4-4 draw by second-tier Greuther Furth.

The Reds led the rollercoaster behind-closed-doors contest 1-0 and 3-1 before falling 4-3 behind, requiring a last-minute leveller from Mohamed Salah to avoid an embarrassing defeat.

Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez (twice) were also on the scoresheet and 56-year-old Klopp believes the trip to his homeland has been a positive one for his new-look squad.

He told the club's website: "You could see now, last day of the camp. Travel, play, travel — it is always a bit exhausting.

"But that's it and you have to go through it, that's what we did. Most importantly, nobody got injured.

"Of course, nobody wants to concede four goals but you saw in the second half, we were too late in mind, passed the balls too late, first touch not good, and that's how we brought them back into the game.

"We scored, on the other hand, some really, really nice goals, to be honest.

"So, a lot of good individual performances and that's most important, that we have like 50-ish minutes for everybody and, again, nobody got injured. A good camp and I'm really happy."

It has been a particularly enjoyable trip for new Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentine World Cup winner, 24, joined the Merseysiders from Brighton for an initial £35million last month and has featured against both Furth and Karlsruher in the last fortnight.

On his opening outings, Mac Allister said: "There is a lot of positive things [to take from the camp].

"I am a new player so I still have to know my team-mates, their strengths and their weaknesses, but I think there are really good players here and we can build something important.

"The welcome from the team was amazing and they are helping me every day so I can do my best on the pitch, so it's a really good team."

The Reds now head home before a trip to Singapore, where further friendlies against Leicester and Bayern Munich lie in store.
