A total of 17 LIV Golf players featured in the Open Championship at Royal Troon and the breakaway tour stays in Britain for its latest gathering at the JCB Golf and Country Club this week.

After testing their course management skills to the maximum in Scotland last week, three rounds at this Staffordshire course should prove less taxing, with wider fairways and a few short par-fours encouraging some of the big hitters to play aggressively.

Jon Rahm, who is still winless on the LIV Tour after joining at the start of the year, is set to go off favourite after a strong Open performance, but there are just two tournaments on the schedule after this one, so big rewards are there for players who can make a push up the standings.

Rahm hoping to land maiden LIV success

Rahm will be disappointed that we have got so deep into the LIV campaign and the former world number one has still yet to post his first victory, but the signs are strong that it might not be far away and could come this week.

The Spaniard finished the Open strongly to claim a tie for seventh place, which was the best performance from any of the LIV competitors at the final Major of the year.

The wider fairways at the JCB will give him the opportunity to let off steam from the tee and while that tournament win has so far eluded him, he has finished in the top 10 of all the outings he has completed.

A foot injury caused him to withdraw at Houston last month and denied him a tilt at the US Open, but that issue seems far behind him now and this could be the week he finally gets over the line.

Consistent Niemann to deliver again

While Rahm has been consistent this season, Chile’s Joaquin Niemann has been the most solid performer on the LIV Tour and this looks a good week for him to boost his position at the top of the standings.

He set his stall out early with wins at Mayakoba and Jeddah in the opening three tournaments and has posted six other top-10 finishes - he was third in Nashville and sixth in Andalucia in his last two efforts - and he has to be respected every time he lines up in LIV company.

Reed building towards first LIV win

Patrick Reed is another player that is yet to post a LIV victory, but recent signs have been good for the American, with top-five finishes in two of his last three outings on the tour.

The former Masters champion, who was not at the Open, has also remained busy over the last few weeks on the DP World Tour, putting up decent performances at the Italian Open (29th) and the BMW International Open (13th), so he definitely looks like one to keep an eye on..
