Seemingly in the departure lounge forever, Gary O’Neil was finally sacked by Wolves following their 2-1 loss to Ipswich last Saturday and he is set to be replaced by Vitor Pereira.

The Portuguese manager is set to take on what looks set to be a season-long relegation battle and steadying the ship by earning a positive result at the King Power Stadium on Sunday would be a decent first step.

That is no easy task, however, as City had been improving under their own new boss, Ruud van Nistelrooy, prior to a 4-0 routing by Newcastle last weekend.

Leicester can welcome Boubakary Soumare back from suspension and there is hope that Harry Winks and Odsonne Edouard may be fit enough to feature.

Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen will be assessed after being forced off against Newcastle and he may miss out, along with Abdul Fatawu, Ricardo Pereira and Wilfried Ndidi.

Long-term absentees Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore, Yerson Mosquera and Enso Gonzalez remain out for Wolves, who are also without the suspended Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Joao Gomes is back from his suspension and Pablo Sarabia and Jose Sa may be fit enough to feature amongst the substitutes.

Jack Taylor’s 94th-minute winner at Molineux last Saturday made it four defeats on the bounce for Wolves, who conceded 12 goals in that miserable run. 

The latter three defeats in that run came against fellow strugglers Everton, West Ham and Ipswich, with another reverse at the hands of a relegation rival looming this weekend, with Leicester fancied to triumph at the King Power.

The Foxes’ 4-0 rout at Newcastle can be forgiven as they were missing all three of their first-choice starting midfielders. Soumare will return on Sunday and Winks may also be available, immediately improving their chances of bouncing back.

Van Nistelrooy oversaw a win over West Ham and a draw against Brighton in his two home matches as Leicester manager, with the fact his side netted five goals across those positive results a good sign ahead of this clash.

As of Friday, no side in Europe’s top five leagues had conceded more goals than Wolves’ 40 and that woeful defensive record simply has to improve.

Wolves are yet to taste victory at the King Power in the Premier League and that is unlikely to change on Sunday, with the Foxes fancied to prevail on home turf.
