- Leeds are unbeaten at home in the Championship this season
- Sunderland have scored in seven of their last 10 away games
- Recommended bet:
Leeds to win and both teams to score

Leeds will hope to get their promotion push back on track on Tuesday when they entertain Sunderland at Elland Road in the Championship.

The Whites fell to a 2-1 defeat against Coventry on Saturday, but Ipswich's defeat to Norwich means they are just one place and one point behind the Tractor Boys with five games remaining.

Sunderland come into the game on the back of a 0-0 draw with Bristol City and their hopes of promotion will have to wait until next season, with the Black Cats 15 points behind the top six.

Team news

Leeds midfielder Ilia Gruev returned from injury on Saturday to face Coventry, and he should be fit to start once again.

Patrick Bamford may lose his place in the final third to Joel Piroe or Mateo Joseph after a quiet day at the office, but Pascal Struijk and Stuart Dallas remain Daniel Farke's only two long-term injury woes.

Jobe Bellingham will lead the line once again for Sunderland due to the absence of Nazariy Rusyn, while Jack Clarke should play against his former club after recently returning from injury.

Sunderland interim boss Mike Dodds is still missing a few defenders, though, with Dennis Cirkin, Jenson Seelt and Niall Huggins all unavailable.

The stats

Leeds are the only team in the Championship to remain unbeaten at home, with Farke's side winning 16 of their 20 matches at Elland Road.

The Whites have collected 52 points at home so far, while Sunderland have only won five times in 20 away games.

Leeds' 15-match unbeaten run in 2024 came to an end against the Sky Blues last weekend, while Sunderland have won just one of their previous 10 in the Championship.

Sunderland ended their seven-match winless run on the road with their 2-0 win over Cardiff last month.

Prediction

Leeds will hope to return to winning ways in midweek, and facing a team with little to play for after a defeat is the ideal fixture.

Farke's troops have been so consistent at home under the former Norwich coach, and they will be out for revenge after losing the first meeting 1-0 in December at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland's away form has been dismal in recent weeks, and while they beat Cardiff, getting a result at Elland Road is a different proposition.

Leeds should have too much quality, but Sunderland should have some joy. Dodds' side have scored five in their last four away from home, while Leeds have conceded five since returning from the international break.
