3-Way Handicap - Leeds 0-1

Leeds will hope they have turned a corner after winning last Friday at Sheffield Wednesday and face another Yorkshire rival when Hull visit on Saturday.

The Tigers have failed to win a competitive game this season, with new boss Tim Walter's methods yet to bear fruit.

Fellow German Daniel Farke still has something to prove to the Elland Road faithful after falling short at Wembley in May.

Saturday's game could go some way towards him regaining further respect from the fans after being criticised following his team's failure to win promotion last season.

Team news

Brenden Aaronson came into the side for Joel Piroe in Leeds' only change at Hillsborough and Farke may stick with a winning side.

If he were to rotate, new signings Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon are potential options to fill the wide berths.

Xavier Simons and Oscar Estupinan were Hull's two alterations at home to Millwall and Walter could choose not to mix things up after stating he was pleased with the "willingness" of his players to "implement my philosophy" against the Lions.

The stats

Leeds are unbeaten in the Championship, drawing with Portsmouth and West Brom before winning 2-0 at Wednesday.

Their tie against Pompey was followed by a 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Middlesbrough meaning their last three games have finished with one or both teams failing to score.

Both sides netted in Hull's first three games in all competitions but that run was ended by last Saturday's 0-0 stalemate against Millwall.

Leeds have won the last two league meetings at Elland Road between these two sides by exactly two goals, including last season's 3-1 victory in April.

Attacking midfielder Aaronson has scored twice since returning to the Whites after spending last season on loan at Union Berlin.

Prediction

Tim Walter is still chasing his first win as Hull head coach
Tim Walter is still chasing his first win as Hull head coach

It has been a tough summer for Leeds following May's play-off final defeat to Southampton but they appear to have done enough business with the signings of among others, Jayden Bogle, Ramazani and Solomon.

Hull's more considered approach to recruitment might be among the reasons why they have struggled to click under Walter, who is still working out his best combinations.

Farke's team has a more settled look and they have kept a couple of clean sheets in a row, with their defensive shape starting to resemble something similar to the rearguard that ended last season with the Championship's second-best defensive record.

They may not be tested by a Hull side who have scored just twice in their three Championship games and it feels sensible to see the hosts eclipsing at least a one-goal deficit on the handicap.
