Levey excited for Snow Lantern reunion

Sean Levey is looking forward to partnering up with Snow Lantern again in the Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on October 2. 

Levey was in the saddle when the grey filly won the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at racing's HQ on July 9, holding off the likes of Mother Earth, Alcohol Free and Lady Bowthorpe to claim the spoils. 

The Richard Hannon-trained charge could not replicate that performance at Goodwood in the hands of Jamie Spencer, who was given the ride due to Levey's suspension. 

But Levey will have the reins again when the action heads to Newmarket on October 2 and he is excited to be reunited with Snow Lantern. 

He said: "I think she goes for the Sun Chariot, I think that's why she ran in the Sussex as they wanted to stay at the mile for now. 

"She ran a blinder in the Sussex on ground which I personally don't think she likes.

"When she had good to firm at Newmarket, I think we all saw the true Snow Lantern there. 

"She's a very good filly with plenty of potential and I just feel as though she keeps improving as the year goes on and it's exciting to know she's going to be in training again next year." 

Doncaster the target for Inspiral

Cheveley Park's managing director Chris Richardson has revealed The May Hill Stakes at Doncaster is the expected target for Inspiral. 

Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Inspiral recorded an impressive victory on her racecourse debut at Newmarket in June before backing that performance up with a win at Sandown Park the following month. 

Connections are now deliberating which race the two-year-old filly will be aimed at but Richardson has suggested a trip to Doncaster is the most likely option. 

He said: "Everyone is very happy with her. John was very pleased, she obviously did it very nicely. I haven't seen her since the race, so hopefully I can get down to the yard shortly. 

"The May Hill remains a possible target." 

Dettori explains Campanelle run

Frankie Dettori claims the absence of a pony was a contributing factor to Campanelle's disappointing performance in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Sunday. 

The Wesley Ward-trained charge had racked up four wins from five runs, including success at Royal Ascot, and was one of the more fancied runners to claim the spoils in France. 

But Campanelle finished last of the 12 runners and Dettori, who was bashed in the face by the horse after she reared up as the stalls opened, has revealed a reason for this poor display. 

Dettori said: "She usually has a pony, so she was very upset today. I had trouble getting her to the start — twice she whipped round and I led her the last bit. Then, behind the gates she was really upset. 

"She overreacted to the jump and when she reared, as she landed she hit me in the face and I was a bit dazed. But the race was over then, I was already five lengths behind." 

Foley revels in Curragh victory

Jockey Shane Foley praised the performance of Ebro River after the duo combined to win the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday. 

Foley, who won last year's race on Lucky Vega, managed to hold off the likes of Go Bears Go and Dr Zempf and the rider was understandably thrilled. 

He said: "Hugo [Palmer] fancied the horse. He had a good run in the Coventry. He's tough and he's genuine. We just said beforehand that we wouldn't mind changing the tactics a bit. 

"We'd been dropping him in but there didn't look to be much pace today and with that tailwind it can be hard to get them back up front."
