End of the line for In Swoop

Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard has confirmed Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe runner-up and former German Derby winner In Swoop has been retired due to injury.

Winning at Group Three and Group Two level at the start of the current season, there were high hopes for the talented four-year-old going forward.

But In Swoop could only manage fourth place when favourite for last month's Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

And Graffard has now revealed the horse a serious injury in that last race in July.

He said: Basically he suffered a career-ending injury in his last race. It was decided to retire the horse.

"It's disappointing, of course, as we were looking forward to having another go at the Arc.

"He's been a very good horse for us, winning the German Derby on just his third career start."

Varian plotting Zeyaadah options

Following her impressive efforts in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, options in France and Ireland are now under consideration for Zeyaadah

After an underwhelming run at Epsom, the daughter of Tamayuz has since secured Group Three honours in Newcastle's Hoppings Stakes, before finishing as runner-up to Lady Bowthorpe at Goodwood.

Handler Roger Varian has been impressed with Zeyaadah's recent form and is now looking at options across the Irish Sea and the Channel for his runner.

He said: "She's in great form and either the Prix de la Nonette at Deauville later on in August or the Blandford Stakes at the Curragh in September will be the next target.

"I think she's a top filly and she finished second to probably the most popular winner of the year at Goodwood!

"Hopefully her best days are still ahead of her."

All systems go for Mr Wagyu

Mr Wagyu has been given the all-clear to feature in Saturday's William Hill Great St Wilfrid at Ripon.

After a fifth win of the season at Goodwood last time out, the six-year old has hit a rating of 99 going into his next race.

Malton handler John Quinn has been happy to see Mr Wagyu come through his efforts at Goodwood unscathed and now all eyes are on Ripon this weekend.

Quinn said: "We're happy with him, he's come out of Goodwood very well and we're intending to run him.

"This horse was a nice horse in his younger days but then he lost his way a bit. He's come back better than ever this season."

Burrows' pair set for Newbury

Owen Burrows' duo of Hukum and Danyah are both in line to feature at Newbury on Saturday.

Hukum is set to bid for back-to-back victories in the Group Three Geoffrey Freer Stakes, while Danyah is being prepared for what would be a step up in class for the Group Two BetVictor Hungerford Stakes.

Burrows said: "Hukum will almost definitely run on Saturday, as long as we're happy with him on Wednesday morning.

"He's done nothing wrong at all this year. Obviously he won this race well last year and it would be nice to repeat that."
