Huddersfield have won just one of their last 12 matches in all competitions.

- Each of Huddersfield’s last three games have finished 1-1
- No side has scored fewer league goals than Wednesday’s 22
- Recommended bet: Draw

A relegation six-pointer takes centre stage in the Championship on Saturday as managerless Huddersfield host Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday, with both sides in dire need of three points.

The Terriers were held to a draw at fellow relegation rivals QPR last time out and this poor result was the final nail in the coffin for Darren Moore, as he was relieved of his duties as manager hours later.

The Owls are also toiling near the foot of the table, currently lying in 23rd and five points off safety, but they did put an end to their two-game losing streak last time out in a goalless draw against play-off hopefuls Watford.

Team news

Huddersfield’s squad continues to be stretched with a number of injuries plaguing the squad this season.

Chris Maxwell, Jaheim Headley, Delano Burgzorg, Oliver Turton, Patrick Jones, Josh Ruffels, Kian Harratt and Danny Ward all occupy the treatment room and will miss this encounter.

Yuta Makayama also remains unavailable as he represents Japan at the Asian Cup.

Rohl has a fuller squad to choose from for this massive meeting, but will miss key first-teamers in Dominic Iorfa, John Buckley and Callum Paterson as they recover from leg, shoulder and concussion injuries respectively.

The stats

Huddersfield have won one of their last 11 games in the league and Town last won against Wednesday in the league back in 2020.

Wednesday have won two of their last five away games in the league, but have scored just three times during this run.

Anthony Musaba and Ike Ugbo lead the goalscoring charts for the Owls with four goals apiece.

Five of Wednesday’s last 10 games in all competitions have seen both teams score.

Prediction

Both the Terriers and the Owls have had issues with keeping goals out this season, with only Blackburn, Rotherham, Plymouth, Preston and Swansea conceding the same number or more in the league.

The two sides have kept five clean sheets between them across each of their last 15 games in all competitions, with Wednesday keeping four of them, and this could mean that a goalfest could be on offer on Saturday.

However, the two Yorkshire teams are in the bottom five in the division in terms of goal scored, so although there are likely to be plenty of chances created at the John Smith’s Stadium, there is no guarantee that either attack will be able to capitalise on these opportunities.

Each of the last three meetings have ended in draws across all competitions and, with both teams in desperate need of three points to ease relegation worries, their frailties are expected to cancel each other out, with the draw the likeliest outcome.
