Harry Kane is delighted he chose to join Bayern Munich from Tottenham despite interest from Manchester United.

The England captain, 30, has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in Bavaria, netting four goals in as many Bundesliga games.

Kane scored on his league debut for Bayern and will be aiming to do the same on his Champions League bow when Thomas Tuchel's side host United in Group A tomorrow.

He said: "Over the summer I know there were talks between a few clubs in the background, but Bayern was a team I was really interested and excited by.

"There weren't many other discussions when they came in and the deal got done.

"My focus is on here, United are a great club and a big club too, but I decided to come here and I'm glad I did."

One of the reasons Kane was touted for a move to United was the potential for him to break Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League scoring record of 260 goals.

But the ex-Spurs marksman, who has racked up 213 strikes in the English top flight, says that never came into his thinking before the move to Munich.

He added: "I don't think it was something I was thinking about. There was a lot of noise about it but those individual records have never been a focus of mine.

"Ultimately for me, it was about how I can push myself, get better, and challenging for titles every year is how I give myself that opportunity."

Kane is aiming to win a first career trophy at Bayern after falling short with both Spurs and England.

On the added pressure to deliver silverware, he said: "That's part of the pressure you face. With every club, with Tottenham as well, every competition you go in wanting to win.

"The expectation from the outside at Bayern is that it has to be done.

"I don't want to be the player who doesn't win the [Bundesliga title] for a 12th year in a row.

"In the cups recently we haven't been so successful so that's hopefully something we can change."
