Harry Kane is set to make his Bundesliga debut for Bayern Munich this evening.

Thomas Tuchel's side travel to Werder Bremen for their opener as they bid to win a 12th consecutive title.

Kane, 30, will be eager to make his mark after an uninspired showing in the Bavarians' 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup last weekend.

Kane man

A striker with the England captain's skill set should thrive as the focal point in a Bayern team loaded with pace, youthful exuberance, experience and elite creators.

Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane and Joshua Kimmich all recorded six or more assists in the Bundesliga last term, with back-up striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scoring 10 goals in 19 games.

Kane proved in 2022-23 that he can record hugely impressive numbers even while playing in a struggling team.

He bagged 30 of Tottenham's 70 Premier League goals as the North London outfit finished a lowly eighth in the table.

Bayern netted 92 times in four fewer games last term, so Kane hitting 40 in 2023-24 should not be ruled out as long as he stays fit.

Tuchel has confirmed his new main man will start on Friday, barring late drama on the training pitch.

The ex-Chelsea boss said: "If nothing extraordinary happens, then he will start. My first impression of Harry is fantastic.

"He is a top professional and his quality is outstanding. He is a fantastic human."

No9 pressure

There is no doubt that even a player with Kane's pedigree will feel the weight of Bayern's iconic No9 jersey on his shoulders.

The Englishman succeeds Robert Lewandowski, who is the German side's second-top scorer of all time behind Gerd Muller with 344 strikes.

In his final season with the Bavarians, the Polish hitman — who now leads the line at Barcelona — netted 50 goals in 46 matches across all competitions.

Kane's highest goal tally in a single season is the 41 he bagged in 2017-18 and that total was accrued from 48 appearances.

Lewandowski's best term came in 2019-20, when he recorded 55 strikes in just 47 games.

Filling the void left when the Poland hotshot departed for the Nou Camp last summer will not be an easy task at all.

A goal-filled outing in Bremen would be the perfect way for Kane to start his difficult assignment.
