Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid are eyeing a return to the top of LaLiga

- Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last seven away league matches
- Getafe have scored more than once in just three of their 10 home games this season
- Recommended bet: Real Madrid to win & both teams to score

Real Madrid have the opportunity to move to the top of LaLiga with a win at Getafe, but it may not be a straightforward assignment.

Their fellow capital outfit have won four of their last five home league games and pushed them all the way in the reverse fixture, so it could be an intriguing encounter.

Team news

Getafe will be without midfielder Mauro Arambarri, who is nursing a long-term knee injury, and Ilaix Moriba, who is at the Africa Cup of Nations with Guinea.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are unable to call upon goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and central defenders Eder Militao and David Alaba, who are all ruled out with knee issues.

The stats

Getafe have lost just once at home this season but have only scored more than once in three of their 10 matches at the Estadio Coliseum.

Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last seven league away games and have lost just once on the road in LaLiga this season.

Madrid’s Vinicius Junior has scored five goals in his last four matches

Prediction

The thought that they can overhaul Girona and go back to the top of LaLiga should be a big incentive for Real Madrid, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side will know that Getafe will be a tough nut to crack on Thursday night.

It took a Jude Bellingham goal five minutes into injury time for Madrid to claim a 2-1 win over their fellow capital outfit when they met earlier in the season and it is worth remembering that Getafe have been beaten just once at home in the league in the entire campaign.

Getafe have won four of their last five on home soil, but this is plainly a tough test, especially as a win would have a lot of significance for the visitors.

And, despite the fact their hosts have lost just once on their own patch, Getafe have also only scored more than once in three of 10 home outings.

That could point to both teams finding the net on Thursday, but Getafe not having enough to claim a notable victory over their glamorous neighbours.
