Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a dramatic, late winner as Fulham maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-2 win over West London rivals Brentford.

The hosts found themselves in front less than a minute into the game. Jay Stansfield saw his deflected effort bounce off the bar and fall kindly for Bobby Decordova-Reid, who turned home.

Fulham doubled their advantage in the 20th minute as Joao Palhinha headed Andreas Pereira's corner past David Raya to net his first goal for the club.

The Bees pulled one back shortly before half-time via a corner of their own as Christian Norgaard slammed Mathias Jensen's delivery past a helpless Bernd Leno.

Ivan Toney levelled the scores in the 71st minute, turning Yoane Wissa's low cross home from close range.

The hosts were not to be denied as Kevin Mbabu lofted a cross into the box in the 90th minute that Mitrovic powered in with his head to win the game for Fulham.

After his last-gasp strike, Mitrovic hailed manager Marco Silva's impact at the club.

He said: "Amazing feeling. I think it was a good derby. Lots of goals, turnovers and in the end we managed to get the win. We made it difficult for ourselves and in the end I managed to get a goal after missing a couple of chances.

"He [Raya] made it so hard for me today. I missed a lot of chances and lots of ups and downs but I never gave up. I stayed calm and kept believing.

"The manager has changed the club, the way we play and the way we believe. We never give up. Today we deserved three points. We are happy to get that first three points and be still undefeated after three games."

Meanwhile, opposite number Toney revealed his disappointment at coming away with nothing.

He said: "It's disappointing. That one hurt. The first 30 minutes we were way off it. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb and we did but then gave the goal away at the end.

"We have to learn from that. I think we were on top in the second half and were all over them but we could have played into our hands more than theirs.

"You have to keep playing and doing what you do best. At times we needed a bit of composure to play round them, especially in the last 20 minutes."

Did you know?

Fulham recorded their first home league win over Brentford since April 1990, when both sides were in the third tier. The Bees had not lost any of their last nine league trips to face Fulham before today.

The Bees have conceded at least two goals in each of their last four Premier League away games (10 in total), while they have not kept a clean sheet away from home in the competition since September 2021.

This was Fulham's first home win in a top-flight London derby since January 2014. They were winless in their previous 12 such fixtures coming into today's game (drawn two, lost 10).

The Cottagers scored twice in the opening 20 minutes of a Premier League game for the first time since March 2012.

Mitrovic has scored three goals in three top-flight appearances for Fulham in 2022-23, already equalling his goal tally from his previous season in the competition (three in 27 appearances in 2020-21).

Decordova-Reid's opener after 44 seconds was the first time the West Londoners have scored in the opening minute of a Premier League game since August 2007.
