Diaz could return for Luton clash

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Luis Diaz is back in training ahead of Liverpool's trip to Luton on Sunday. 

The Colombian winger has missed the Reds' last two games following the kidnapping of his parents, with his father having yet to be found. 

Klopp said: "He was in training two days ago. He had a session yesterday and will be part of the team. We must wait. If he feels right, he will be here and train with us. 

"The session he had with us, because then we were not here, you could see that when he's with the boys, it's fine, it's OK. 

"But you could see as well that he didn't sleep a lot. So we just have to see how he is and we go from there. 

"It's all about him, that he makes himself available or not and I will not force anything." 

Frank claims Toney is happy at Bees

Ivan Toney is happy to stay at Brentford according to his manager Thomas Frank. 

The striker is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching betting rules, with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2025. 

Frank said: "He is happy at the club. I want him to stay. Ivan is happy to stay. He's happy at the club. What happens in the future is impossible to guess. 

"Ivan's skillset in terms of finishing, composure in those moments, link-up play, presence, character, he is a very good package. 

"It's not for me to put a price tag on him, it is down to the club. 

"I'm happy with him and I hope he plays here forever."

Ten Hag backs players

Erik ten Hag has backed his Manchester United players to turn around their current poor form. 

Over the last week, the Red Devils have lost at home by a 3-0 scoreline to first Manchester City in the Premier League and then Newcastle in the Carabao Cup. 

Ten Hag said of his squad: "They want to put this right. 

"We know the standards here and we have to make those standards every day. We will fight back. The players are strong, the coaches are strong and the manager is strong." 

The Dutchman referenced the recent 2-1 victory against Brentford as evidence of his players' resolve. 

He added: "Remember the fight we showed against Brentford and the comeback. If there wasn't spirit or fight in the dressing room, we couldn't do that."

Poch praises Spurs

Ahead of Chelsea's visit to Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino has claimed his former club are title contenders. 

The Argentine will return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since being sacked by Spurs in 2019 and was positive when asked about their hopes of winning the Premier League. 

Pochettino said: "I think they are doing a fantastic job. Ange and all the coaching staff are doing a fantastic job. 

"Of course, very good players, very good team and you can feel they can be a contender. It's early in the season but they are showing the qualities to be a contender. 

"I don't know him [Postecoglou] really well but I am so happy for him and for the club that they are doing really well after four years. We cannot forget all that happened there when we were there. 

"It's normal but we are very positive people. At the same time, we are very grateful people and when the club is doing well, we keep these links and always you are happy when the club are doing well."

Doucoure sticks with Toffees

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has extended his contract with the Premier League club until 2025. 

After penning his new deal, the 30-year-old praised Sean Dyche for transforming his career on Merseyside.

Doucoure said: "It changed everything when the manager came in. Everyone saw my quality and I think I showed everyone what I'm capable of. 

"I think signing my new contract shows the club is going the right way. We are confident and we know the team is very good. We feel very confident and we want to look forward. 

"We want to put Everton where it belongs, to be honest. We want to be higher up in the table and obviously we are in a good spot in the Carabao Cup as well. 

"I want to give everything and compete every week for Everton."

Smith Rowe suffers injury setback

Emile Smith Rowe will be out for several weeks with a knee injury according to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

The 23-year-old had made his first league start of the season in the 5-0 win over Sheffield United last Saturday but was a late withdrawal for the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham. 

Arteta said: "Nothing has changed. As I said, he will be out for weeks. 

"How many will be determined by how he progresses, in the first few weeks especially. 

"A big blow, because he was gaining some momentum." 

Smith Rowe only made 14 appearances in 2022-23 during an injury-hit campaign and has featured eight times this season.
