Regis Le Bris has seen his Sunderland side start 2025 off with a bang

- West Brom are unbeaten in their last eight home fixtures
- Luton’s four-game losing run is the current longest in the Championship
- Watford have been beaten in 10 of their last 14 away games

The Championship season continues this weekend with leaders Leeds holding onto top spot despite a 3-3 draw at Hull last time out.

There is all to play for with four points covering the leading four clubs and just six points separating 18th-placed Derby from basement boys Plymouth.

Burnley vs Sunderland (Friday, 8pm)

Sunderland have won their opening two league games of 2025 and can pull off a significant victory over Burnley, who were out of sorts when drawing 0-0 with Stoke in their last home game.

Score prediction: Burnley 1-2 Sunderland

Cardiff vs Swansea (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Reaching the play-offs remains the aim for Swansea, who are seven points outside the top six.

The Swans have posted four away wins and can claim the derby spoils against Cardiff, who are winless from their last six home fixtures.

Score prediction: Cardiff 1-2 Swansea

Millwall vs Hull (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Alex Neil may take a bit of time to put his stamp on Millwall, who have registered one league win in 11.

The Lions are going through a sticky spell and could be held by Hull, who won 1-0 at Blackburn on their last road trip.

Score prediction: Millwall 1-1 Hull

Plymouth vs QPR (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Plymouth are rooted to the foot of the table but they have lost only two of 12 home league games and can take a point against QPR, who have drawn six times on their Championship travels.

Score prediction: Plymouth 1-1 QPR

Coventry vs Bristol City (Saturday, 3pm)

Liam Manning’s Bristol City have taken 10 points from the last four games and can edge closer to the top six with a victory over inconsistent Coventry, who are only six points above the drop zone.

Score prediction: Coventry 0-1 Bristol City

Derby vs Watford (Saturday, 3pm)

Six of Derby’s league wins have come at Pride Park and the Rams should fancy their chances against out-of-sorts Watford, who have taken only nine points on their travels.

Score prediction: Derby 2-0 Watford

Luton vs Preston (Saturday, 3pm)

Matt Bloomfield is hoping for a flying start in the Luton hotseat but his team could be second best to Preston, who have lost only twice since the November break.

Score prediction: Luton 1-2 Preston

Oxford vs Blackburn (Saturday, 3pm)

Blackburn returned to the top six after Wednesday’s 3-0 victory at home to Portsmouth, but they could be held by Oxford, who have taken 11 points from their last five fixtures.

Score prediction: Oxford 1-1 Blackburn

Portsmouth vs Middlesbrough (Saturday, 3pm)

Portsmouth shipped three second-half goals in Wednesday’s 3-0 loss away to Blackburn and may not be fully recovered for the visit of Middlesbrough, who should succeed on the south coast.

Score prediction: Portsmouth 1-3 Middlesbrough

Sheffield United vs Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)

Norwich are pushing up towards the play-offs and can share the points with injury-hit hosts Sheffield United, who are winless in their last three Bramall Lane encounters.

Score prediction: Sheff Utd 1-1 Norwich

West Brom vs Stoke (Saturday, 3pm)

West Brom are unbeaten in eight matches at the Hawthorns and look too strong for Stoke, who are playing their first game since top scorer Tom Cannon was recalled to Leicester.

Score prediction: West Brom 2-0 Stoke

Leeds vs Sheffield Wednesday (Sunday, 12.00)

Leeds have banked 32 points from 13 home games and should be too strong for mid-table Sheffield Wednesday, who have gone five matches without keeping a clean sheet.

Score prediction: Leeds 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday
