With one week of Premier League action in the bag we can begin to form some more concrete conclusions about who will start for certain sides, which players are essential and which teams' options are worth swerving.

We have looked ahead to Gameweek 2 and picked out five players who should be in your FPL team for the coming set of fixtures.

Josko Gvardiol, Man City (Defender)

The Premier League champions opened with a solid 2-0 win over Chelsea and should have no issues extending their winning streak by beating newly promoted Ipswich on Saturday.

City did not hold back against promoted sides last term, netting 10 goals across their three fixtures against Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United, and while Erling Haaland will probably have a field day against the Tractor Boys, looking further afield could be a smart play too.

Ipswich failed to trouble Liverpool when losing their opener 2-0 and may struggle in Manchester, making Gvardiol an appealing option in defence.

Furthermore, the Croatian left-back chipped in with a goal and an assist in City's 5-1 rout of Luton last term, so he could earn some extra points alongside his clean sheet haul on Saturday.

Diogo Jota started the season with a goal last time out

Diogo Jota, Liverpool (Midfielder)

Many had predicted Jota would thrive under Arne Slot, and he rewarded his new manager's faith in him by netting last weekend.

The Portuguese forward is listed as a midfielder on FPL yet is playing up front for Liverpool, making him a must-own asset for your team.

Brentford looked suspect at the back despite beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in their opener, so given that Jota has two goals and one assist in his five previous Premier League appearances against the Bees, he should make your shortlist.

Danny Welbeck, Brighton (Forward)

Brighton started life under Fabian Hurzeler with an impressive 3-0 win over Everton, and Welbeck was the star of the show, netting one goal and setting up another.

Welbeck netted against Manchester United last term and after an exceptional first game, he could be high on confidence ahead of facing his former club, making him a viable option for your team.

The new Seagulls manager's system seems to suit the veteran forward, and he rates a solid budget option up front at just £5.5 million, he is a great pick if it is differentials you are looking for, as he is owned by under three per cent of FPL players.

Eberechi Eze, Midfielder (Crystal Palace)

West Ham looked vulnerable at the back in their first match under Julen Lopetegui. Aston Villa could have scored more than the two they did at the London Stadium last Saturday, making Crystal Palace's biggest attacking threat, Eze, an appealing option in midfield.

Eze cruelly had a superb goal disallowed at Brentford last Sunday, but that will not dishearten the England star, who has two goals and an assist in his previous two home matches against the Hammers.

He is key to everything the Eagles do going forward and is also Palace's first-choice penalty taker, making him one to definitely consider in midfield.

Richarlison, Spurs (Forward)

Dominic Solanke failed to make his mark on his Spurs debut as the Lilywhites stumbled to a 1-1 draw with newly promoted Leicester, and his spot in the starting XI could be in jeopardy as a result.

Richarlison is a more than capable deputy and will be eager to start, or at least get a longer cameo from the bench, against Everton after netting three goals across the two matches against his former club last term.

The Toffees looked woeful at the back in their opener against Brighton and could struggle to cope with Spurs' stacked attacking lineup.

Captain pick - Diogo Jota

Crystal Palace racked up 14 shots at Brentford last week, so siding with a Liverpool attacker as your captain looks a smart play.

Jota cemented his place as the first-choice striker with a well-taken goal against Ipswich and could cause a shaky Bees backline plenty of issues at Anfield.
