Gameweek 27 of the Premier League threw up a few surprises at the top and bottom of the table.

After their 7-0 thumping of Manchester United last weekend, Liverpool slipped up at Bournemouth while Arsenal romped to a 3-0 win at Fulham.

Elsewhere, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brentford had a double gameweek to navigate with key points up for grabs in the relegation battle.

We take a look at some of the best and worst performers after a dramatic and entertaining round of action.

Gameweek 27 top performers

Leandro Trossard (Arsenal)

Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard became the first player in Premier League history to assist three goals before half-time in an away match and bagged 15 fantasy points as a result.

The Belgian first provided the inswinging corner which centre-back Gabriel nodded in to open the scoring after 21 minutes, before his looping cross was headed home by Gabriel Martinelli.

When the 28-year-old picked out Martin Odegaard in first-half stoppage time, the Gunners had their third and the game was over as a contest.

Gabriel (Arsenal)

Not only were Mikel Arteta's side scintillating in the final third, they were also resolute at the back.

Gabriel racked up 14 points thanks to his goal and the Gunners' clean sheet at Craven Cottage.

The title-chasing North Londoners return to the Emirates in GW28 to host Crystal Palace where they will be confident of another shutout against the goal-shy Eagles.

Ivan Toney (Brentford)

Ivan Toney was the major benefactor of the double gameweek for Brentford.

Having been a peripheral figure in the 1-0 defeat at Everton last Saturday, the Bees marksman returned to goalscoring form at Saints, where Thomas Frank's men secured a 2-0 win.

Toney ended GW27 with 13 points, a huge relief to the 40% of fantasy managers who included the English striker in their squad.

Casemiro (Manchester United)

Manchester United's dropped points in the goalless draw with Saints last Sunday was largely down to a reckless challenge from Casemiro that saw the Brazilian midfielder sent off for the second time this season.

Casemiro, 31, became the first player to receive two red cards in a single Premier League season for the Red Devils since Nemanja Vidic in 2013-14 and is now one of only two players to be sent off twice in his first campaign in the English top flight as a United player after Darren Fletcher in 2003-04.

United's No18 will miss the next three league matches and, much to the frustration of fantasy players, suffered a loss of two points in the stalemate at Old Trafford.

Wout Faes (Leicester)

Another man to see red last weekend, Wout Faes left Leicester's 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea with a negative fantasy total of minus two.

Centre-back Faes, 24, received his second caution in the final minutes of the clash at the King Power Stadium and will now miss the Foxes' trip to Brentford on Saturday.

Only 0.2% of fantasy managers include Faes among their ranks, so his absence will have a limited impact across the league.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Fresh from his heroics in the 7-0 thumping of Manchester United, Mohamed Salah went to Bournemouth brimming with confidence.

And handed the opportunity to level the scores from the penalty spot after 70 minutes, the Egyptian ace fluffed his lines.

Ballooning his spot-kick into the stands, Salah ended the game without a fantasy point and his team-mates left the South Coast bruising from a 1-0 loss.
