Everton will hope to kickstart a new dawn in the Premier League as they host Brighton at Goodison Park on the opening weekend of the new campaign.

Sean Dyche's side were one of the contenders for relegation last season, and the former Burnley manager will view the summer as a fresh start.

While Everton have stuck with Dyche, Brighton turned to Fabian Hurzeler after Roberto De Zerbi's departure and the signs have been positive in pre-season.

Team news

Everton boss Dyche will be without Jarrad Branthwaite due to a groin injury, and the centre-back is not expected back until September, and Youssef Chermiti and Nathan Patterson also remain sidelined until next month.

Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane and James Garner will need to pass fitness tests to feature, and all are considered doubtful.

Brighton left-back Pervis Estupinan is out until mid-September due to an ankle injury, while Billy Gilmour will also play no part due to a muscle problem.

Goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen has a knock and will likely return later this month, while Julio Enciso and Solly March are doubtful due to knee injuries.

The stats

Despite their struggles on occasion last season, Everton ended the year in fine form, winning five games on the spin at home without conceding.

They only won eight at home all season, so their ability to click into gear at the business end of the campaign suggests Dyche has finally got his players in a good place.

Brighton only won one of their final 10 games in the Premier League last season, but under a new manager, their fans will expect a better start.

Prediction

Brighton have hit the ground running under Hurzeler, winning all four of their pre-season friendlies, scoring 14 goals in the process.

The Seagulls have made some eye-catching signings, with the additions of Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer, Brajan Gruda and Ibrahim Osman.

With Kaoru Mitoma back fit and Joao Pedro also in line to start, Brighton should be able to make a fast start on the road.

On another day, the away win would be tempting, but the safer bet is Brighton in the draw no bet market, especially considering Everton's home record and the fact Saturday's game comes on the opening weekend.
