LiveScore Racing Preview: Doncaster, September 10, 2021
It is day three of the St Leger Festival at Doncaster and the excellent action on Town Moor continues.
The feature races are the Flying Childers Stakes and Doncaster Cup, both of which are Group Two contests.
We have picked out five horses for you to follow.
1.40pm - Cazoo Flying Scotsman Stakes (7f - Listed)
Andrew Balding's colt HOO YA MAL built on an encouraging debut at Sandown (7f) to score in impressive style last month at York (7f).
He finished that race strongly and was well on top.
This two-year-old is open to further improvement and will enjoy the fast ground he will encounter at Doncaster — he is the one to beat in this Listed contest.
LiveScore Selection: Hoo Ya Mal
2.10pm - Wainwright Flying Childers Stakes (5f - Group 2)
It was quite clear how much ability ARMOS has when he won the Group Three Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood earlier this season.
He looked in a different league to his rivals in that race, scoring by over three lengths.
Richard Hannon's runner did not disgrace himself in the Group One Prix Morny at Deauville on his latest outing. He finished fourth in that race.
A drop down to Group Two and a return to the UK should see him record a third career success.
LiveScore selection: Armor
2.40pm - Doncaster Cup Stakes (2m2f - Group 2)
We were denied the chance to see STRADIVARIUS and Trushan clash in the Goodwood Cup as the latter pulled out due to the fast ground.
The good to firm going at Doncaster will not suit Alan King's runner, so the preference should be given to Stradivarius.
The seven-year-old stayer won this race in 2019 and he can regain his crown and add to the Goodwood Cup to make it another impressive season for the king of this division.
LiveScore selection: Stradivarius
3.15pm racehorselotto.com Mallard Handicap (1m6½f)
With six wins from his 11 starts, PRINCE ALEX has an impressive record on the track.
His latest win came in a class two handicap at Goodwood over 1m6f. That was his first run since moving to Michael Bell's yard.
The handicapper has risen the gelding 4lb in the ratings but he can keep progressing, so there may be more victories in this horse before his mark catches up with him.
LiveScore selection: Prince Alex
3.45pm - Cazoo Handicap (6½f)
The most unexposed runner in this field is ASJAD.
He makes his handicap debut here following two wins from his three starts.
Roger Varian's colt, who runs in the Shadwell silks, was denied a hat-trick when he went down by just a neck at Ffos Las (6f) last month.
This horse has won at this course over 6f and he step up to the extended 6f trip will not be a problem.
Off this opening mark of 96, it is a good opportunity for him to add to his tally and keep up the excellent start he has made to his career.
LiveScore selection: Asjad
