Millwall secured a 0-0 draw at Coventry in what looked likely to be David Livermore’s last game as the Lions’ caretaker manager.

Livermore has been in charge since the departure of Neil Harris earlier this month, overseeing three games, with former Stoke boss Alex Neil reportedly set to take over.

The stalemate left Millwall with just one win in their last nine league outings, while Frank Lampard’s Coventry were unable to register a third consecutive home win after victories over Hull and Plymouth.

Livermore made two changes to the side that lost at Norwich last time out, with George Honeyman and Macaulay Langstaff replacing Mihailo Ivanovic and the injured Aidomo Emakhu.

The visitors started on the front foot through Ryan Leonard, who saw his shot deflected for a corner before Japhet Tanganga headed over.

Romain Esse’s cross-field pass then picked out Femi Azeez, who drilled his shot straight at Coventry goalkeeper Oliver Dovin.

Tanganga’s aerial presence continued to cause problems at set-pieces and he headed wide before half-time.

The Sky Blues were 4-0 winners against Plymouth at the CBS Arena on Boxing Day but it was a completely different story against Millwall as the hosts managed just one shot on target in a dismal first half.

Missing the energetic Ephron Mason-Clark through injury, he was replaced by Victor Torp in Coventry’s only change from the rout against Plymouth.

Torp was heavily involved in Coventry’s only clear-cut chance of the first half, playing in Jake Bidwell who cut back for Ben Sheaf, but the midfielder’s effort was comfortably saved by Lukas Jensen in the Millwall goal.

Coventry went closest to opening the scoring six minutes after the restart when Jack Rudoni cut inside onto his right foot and fired his effort off the underside of the bar.

Torp was next to have a pop at goal for the hosts when he shifted onto his right side and curled his attempt narrowly wide.

Lampard threw on both Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante in search of a winner but to no avail.

Millwall had headed into the game with just one away win and eight goals away from The Den all season and it was evident why after their early forays forward.

Leonard blazed over following Bobby Thomas’ headed clearance while Murray Wallace headed wide from a corner to round off a dull stalemate in the west midlands.
