Cardiff vs West Brom predictions: Baggies bouncing towards another victory
- West Brom have lost just one of their last seven meetings with Cardiff
- The Baggies have won four of their last five Championship games
- Recommended bet: West Brom to win
Championship play-off hopefuls Cardiff and West Brom will both be aiming to build on impressive weekend victories when they meet at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.
City claimed a notable come-from-behind victory at Preston on Saturday afternoon, scoring twice in second-half stoppage time to clinch a 2-1 success.
That briefly lifted the Bluebirds into the play-off positions, but Albion replaced them in the top six later on Saturday, recording an eye-catching 2-0 success over high-flying Ipswich — that was the Baggies' fourth win in their last five Championship matches.
Team news
Cardiff will be without the suspended Jamilu Collins after the left-back picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Preston, while manager Erol Bulut will also have to make do without experienced midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Josh Maja and John Swift both returned as substitutes in West Brom's victory over Ipswich following recent lay-offs and could now be pushing for starts, but Daryl Dike (Achilles) and Adam Reach (muscle) remain unavailable.
The stats
West Brom have won four of their last five Championship matches and have only suffered two defeats across their previous 13 in the second tier, a run that dates back to early September.
Albion have also lost just one of their previous seven meetings with Cardiff, notably claiming a 4-0 victory in South Wales in September 2021, although both clashes between the two sides last season ended all-square.
Cardiff are also in good form, losing just one of their last five, but that sole defeat was in their most recent home clash against Norwich.
Five of Cardiff's eight victories in the Championship this season have come on home turf and they have only lost once at the Cardiff City Stadium since mid-August.
Prediction
This could prove an entertaining clash between two in-form sides, with Cardiff having lost just one of their last seven on home soil and Albion — fresh from their weekend victory over Ipswich — having won four of their previous five.
Carlos Corberan's visitors have been going under the radar in the promotion race for much of this season, but they were impressive in seeing off the Tractor Boys and have claimed notable wins across their last four on the road at Preston and Coventry.
Out of these two play-off chasing sides, it is the Baggies who are likely to have more staying power come the business end of the season and they can underline those credentials with a midweek victory in South Wales.
