Cardiff City and Coventry City each have seven points from their six Championship games, but the momentum appears to be with the hosts heading into Tuesday's meeting.

The Bluebirds beat Welsh rivals Swansea City 2-0 on Saturday to make it two consecutive wins on their own patch.

Meanwhile, the Sky Blues played out a 1-1 draw at Hull City on Friday and are still to get a victory on the road in 2023-24.

The visitors have had an extra day to rest and recover for this midweek fixture, but their inability to win away from home is starting to become a real worry.

Team news

Cardiff remain without Josh Bowler due to a calf injury and Erol Bulut may stick with the same XI that started Saturday's win over Swansea.

A player who could come in is Ollie Tanner, who scored the opening against the Swans and then won the penalty from which Aaron Ramsey sealed the result.

However, Bulut may resist the urge and remain patient with Ike Ugbo, who has already scored three times this season.

For Coventry, Fabio Tavares and Callum O'Hare are long-term absentees with Achilles and ACL injuries, respectively.

The extra day to prepare may persuade Mark Robins to name the same XI from the game at Hull, although Kasey Palmer and Ellis Simms could be pushing for starts.

Cardiff's win over Swansea was their second in a row at home, having also defeated Sheffield Wednesday on their own patch.

Meanwhile, Coventry have won just one of their last six away games in the Championship.

Mark Robins' side won in the Welsh capital last season thanks to Viktor Gyokeres' 34th minute strike, but that was the first time they had tasted victory away against the Bluebirds since 2007.

They are also still to keep a clean sheet away from home in 2023-24.

Prediction

These sides look well-matched, as demonstrated by their aggregate score of 1-0 to Coventry last season after they drew 0-0 in the West Midlands.

Those results helped Robins' side reach the play-off final and while they have been generally solid this season, it is hard not to feel that they are still to rediscover their best form after last season's Wembley heartache.

Gyokeres and star midfielder Gustavo Hamer have since departed, robbing them of both goals and guile.

Cardiff have added the latter quality with Ramsey and look a generally solid outfit who will feel they have the momentum after their second-half showing to beat Swansea.

Bulut also has the trump card of unleashing Tanner when he feels the time is right and the Bluebirds' recent home record hints that they are finding a formula that works.
