Roberto De Zerbi wants his Brighton side's achievements to be put in perspective after they impressively saw off Tottenham 4-2.

Despite numerous injuries and a busy European schedule plaguing their season, the win sees the Seagulls climb above Newcastle into eighth place.

De Zerbi's men were ruthless at the Amex Stadium, putting Ange Postecoglou's high-fliers to the sword for the majority of the encounter.

And the Italian coach believes his side deserve more credit for their achievements given their setup compared to other top clubs.

He said: "You can't forget we are Brighton. Sometimes they forget we are Brighton.

"We are not Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle or Arsenal, we are still Brighton.

"The other eight or nine big teams in the Premier League, they do not sell their big players."

The hosts were in cruise control after Joao Pedro’s double and a Pervis Estupinan stunner added to Jack Hinshelwood’s opener.

However, late strikes from visiting pair Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies did create a nervous ending, with Spurs also hitting the woodwork in the dying stages.

De Zerbi was full of praise for his side's performance — apart from the latter stages.

He added: "We played fantastic football for 80 minutes and then we were unlucky in the first goal we conceded. After that we suffered the quality of Tottenham.

"I think this season, it was the best performance. Not just for Joao Pedro and Billy Gimour, I am speaking in general for Brighton.

"I am really lucky to be this coach of this team with these players. I am very pleased with the passion they have, they have everything."
