David Moyes secured the Europa Conference League title last season but will be desperate for improved domestic form

- West Ham have won all of their last three meetings with Bournemouth
- Bournemouth have conceded 10 goals without scoring in those games
- Recommended bet: West Ham to win

On the back of winning the Europa Conference League at the end of last season, West Ham will be looking to make a flying start to the new Premier League campaign when they travel to Bournemouth on Saturday.

After finishing down in 14th place in the Premier League table last season, manager David Moyes and his West Ham side will be determined to climb back into a more familiar position in the top half of the standings this term.

It looks set to be another tough season for Bournemouth after they defied expectations by avoiding the drop last season at the expense of Southampton, Leeds and Leicester, who dropped down to the Championship.

Team news

Andoni Iraola's burgeoning reputation will be put to the test in his first season in England

Bournemouth begin life with new manager Andoni Iraola at the helm and the Cherries could see a number of new faces handed competitive debuts.

Hamed Traore, Milos Kerkez, Romain Faivre and Justin Kluivert all signed for the south coast outfit over the summer and will be pushing for starts against the Hammers this weekend.

As for West Ham, they begin life without talisman Declan Rice following his big-money move from the London Stadium to Arsenal over the summer.

Rice was a key figure in the middle of the park for Moyes' side and the club will have to dip into the transfer market to replace the England international.

West Ham have been quiet on incoming signings in the window so far but are expected to sign Mexico midfielder Edson Alvarez from Ajax before the weekend.

Whether Alvarez will be ready to feature in this game remains to be seen, while Moyes is expected to go with a front two of Danny Ings and Jarrod Bowen on Saturday.

The stats

West Ham's recent record against Bournemouth has looked particularly strong as they have won all of their last three meetings.

In those three encounters, West Ham found the back of the net 10 times, with the Cherries unable to score a single goal.

Bournemouth's last win over the Hammers in the Premier League came back in January 2019, courtesy of a 2-0 victory at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries struggled at the back end of last season and have failed to score in any of their last three Premier League games.

Prediction

Given West Ham's strong record in this fixture, the Hammers might well come away from the south coast with the spoils this weekend.

The Hammers are a more settled side with Moyes at the helm, while Iraola is still getting his feet under the table at the Vitality Stadium.

Being busier than West Ham so far this summer is not saying much, and like their manager, Bournemouth's new arrivals may take time to adapt to life in England's top flight.

West Ham were poor on their travels last term but they still won 4-0 at the Vitality, one of only three away wins, and can at least emulate the result on Saturday.
