Arsenal will aim to get their season back on track with victory over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates when the Premier League resumes after the international break.

The Gunners are in need of three points as they signed off before the break with a 1-1 draw at Chelsea, extending their winless spell in the top flight to four games.

Forest have been the surprise package in the division so far this season and are level on points with Mikel Arteta's side going into Saturday's clash with only Arsenal's slightly better goal difference separating the two teams in fourth and fifth place.

Ben White is set to miss at least a fortnight after undergoing a minor knee operation during the international break, while Arsenal could be without Declan Rice this weekend after he pulled out of the England squad with a foot injury.

Bukayo Saka also withdrew from Three Lions duty but there is hope he has recovered from his leg injury to be fit to face Forest while Riccardo Calafiori is expected to be available after recovering from his recent knee issue.

Leandro Trossard is a major doubt after he limped off during the first half of Belgium’s 1-0 defeat to Israel on Sunday.

Forest have no reported fresh injuries to deal with for the trip to north London but Danilo (ankle) and Ibrahim Sangare (hamstring) both remain absent for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Arsenal were limping towards the international break as injuries and poor form were seriously threatening their chances of mounting another title bid.

The Gunners have slipped nine points behind leaders Liverpool and know another setback could leave them with too much to do as they look stay in contention in the title race.

Arteta did have Martin Odegaard back for the draw at Chelsea and he will hope the break has given others recovering from injuries and those carrying knocks the time to recover.

Forest's superb start to the season has seen them rise up to fifth, although their impressive progress was checked by Newcastle last time out when they lost 3-1 at home, ending a run of three consecutive wins.

Arsenal are understandably favourites and they remain unbeaten at the Emirates this season but Forest, who have scored in all but one of their league games, can more than play their part in what is an intriguing clash.
