Declan Rice to score or assist

Third-placed Arsenal have set the standard in 2024, winning all seven of their Premier League games this year and putting together a sensational aggregate score of 31-3 in that run.

A 3-1 win over title rivals Liverpool is the highlight in that sequence, but 5-0 wins over Burnley and Crystal Palace as well as 6-0 thrashings of West Ham and Sheffield United show just how ruthless Mikel Arteta’s side are right now.

They look unstoppable and 15th-placed Brentford, having lost seven of their last eight away matches in the Premier League, look extremely unlikely to be the side to cause the Gunners to misfire when they head to the Emirates on Saturday evening.

Team news

David Raya is on loan from Brentford so will sit out this visit from his parent club, with Aaron Ramsdale set to deputise in his absence.

Jurrien Timber is the Gunners’ only other confirmed absentee although Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are doubts while Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli will need assessing after coming off early against Sheffield United on Monday.

Thomas Frank has confirmed that Ben Mee will miss the rest of the season with an ankle fracture, meaning he joins long-term absentees Josh Dasilva, Rico Henry, Bryan Mbeumo, Kevin Schade, Aaron Hickey and Ethan Pinnock in the Brentford treatment room.

The stats

Arsenal have won all seven of their Premier League games in 2024, scoring 31 goals in the process and Declan Rice has scored or assisted five times across his last four league matches.

Eight of Brentford’s last 10 Premier League games have gone over 3.5 goals, but none of the last six meetings between this pair have gone over 3.5 goals.

The Bees have conceded 11 goals in their last five league games and won only one of their last eight league games, losing seven during that run.

Mikel Arteta's Arsenal have scored four goals or more in each of their last four Premier League games.

Prediction

Arsenal have been utterly dominant since the turn of the year and their immense run of form and free-scoring nature looks unlikely to let up against an inconsistent Brentford, who are winless in their last four games and who lost 4-2 at West Ham in their last away match.

Arteta’s side lead the way for goals scored in the Premier League this term, with 18 of those coming from set pieces.

That impressive number of goals from dead-ball situations is no coincidence as they have improved massively in that department since Declan Rice has begun to take set-pieces.

In his last four games Rice has registered three assists and two goals, with his impressive run of contributions set to continue against the defensively weak Bees. Brentford have shipped 24 goals in their last 10 Premier League games and Arsenal could have a field day at the Emirates.

Frank’s side conceded six corners in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea last time out and faced eight in the reverse fixture with the Gunners, suggesting Rice should get plenty of opportunities to demonstrate his excellent delivery on Saturday evening, while the amount the Bees concede mean the England midfielder could even score himself.
