Ange Postecoglou guided Celtic to the domestic treble

Ange Postecoglou sent a heartfelt thank you to the Celtic faithful for their support during a trophy-laden spell after being confirmed as Tottenham's new boss on a four-year deal.

Having guided the Bhoys to a domestic treble in 2022-23, Postecoglou will now set about transforming Spurs as they face up to a season without European football.

And the North London club's fans will be desperate to see him succeed after Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte failed to build on the foundations laid by Mauricio Pochettino, who is now in charge of rivals Chelsea.

Bidding farewell to the Scottish giants, Postecoglou said: "It was an honour to be asked to be Celtic manager and during my two years I have given everything I have to deliver success to our supporters.

"Culminating in the treble, my players and backroom team have been brilliant for me on this journey.

"They have given us all some fantastic moments through their energy and effort, creating real quality, winning football.

"Our supporters have been magnificent and I thank them for the way they embraced me during the past two years.

"My ambition was always to give our fans a team they could be proud of, a team people talked about, and I think we achieved that.

"Celtic is a phenomenal football club — I will forever be a supporter. I wish everyone connected with Celtic nothing but continued success."

Born in Athens, Postecoglou has been in management for more than 25 years.

The first Australian to lead a side in the Premier League, the 57-year-old tactician has a rich history in Japan and Down Under, winning multiple domestic trophies and thriving as part of the City Group.

His links to Manchester City have inspired his attacking philosophy and his teams mirror the style Pep Guardiola has implemented at the Etihad.

Celtic enjoyed a dominant Scottish Premiership campaign under Postecoglou this term, scoring 114 goals and conceding just 34.

Life will undoubtedly be more complicated in England, particulary with Harry Kane's future subject to speculation.

Australia's finest

But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is convinced Postecoglou is the right man for the job.

He said: "Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play.

"He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy — everything that's important to our club."
