Arsenal to win and both teams to score

Arsenal look to be back on track after two wins in the past week over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and a superb victory at Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

The Gunners are expected to make it three in a row when they face West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday evening, although it is unlikely to be straightforward against the Hammers.

Team news

Midfielder Edson Alvarez is eligible for the hosts after serving a two-match suspension but Mohammed Kudus sits out the last match of his five-game ban.

Julen Lopetegui, who is serving a touchline ban for the game, is hoping to have Niclas Fullkrug back after his recent leg injury.

Arsenal defenders Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are set to miss the trip to the London Stadium, while centre-back Gabriel came off against Sporting and is a doubt.

The stats

Julen Lopetegui remains under pressure at West Ham despite the win over Newcastle

Arsenal won this fixture 6-0 last season.

Publicidad

West Ham have scored in four of their six home league games this term.

Only three teams, Brentford, Everton and Southampton, have scored fewer than Arsenal's tally of six away goals this season.

Just four teams, Fulham, Brentford, Southampton and Wolves, have conceded more goals at home than West Ham, who have let in 10 at the London Stadium.

West Ham have only won two of their six home league games this season.

Prediction

Arsenal are in much better shape heading into their trip to London rivals West Ham after two much-needed victories in the past week.

The 3-0 home success over Nottingham Forest last weekend ended a run of four games without a win in the Premier League and the Gunners followed up by demolishing Sporting Lisbon 5-1 in the Champions League.

That statement win in Europe will have delighted Arteta, who will now be after a run of consistent results in the league to get back into title contention.

Arteta's side are nine points behind leaders Liverpool and know if they want to be involved in the title race again this season they must end a run of four away games without a win by beating the Hammers, who turned in a much-improved display themselves on Monday when winning 2-0 at Newcastle.

That victory eased the pressure on boss Julen Lopetegui, who has yet to win over the majority of the Hammers fanbase, but his side remains in the bottom half, just six points clear of the relegation zone.

Expect the hosts to play their part but Arsenal look to have their mojo back after two convincing victories.
