Bayern Munich are planning on returning for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha in January after failing to sign him on deadline day.

The Bundesliga champions flew the Portuguese international out to Germany and the 28-year-old even went as far as completing a medical before the deal fell through.

Fulham were unable to find a replacement for their engine room enforcer, despite presenting offers to multiple players including Tottenham No5 Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

But Bayern will try their luck again next year when the transfer window reopens as Thomas Tuchel looks to build a squad capable of winning the Champions League.

The former Chelsea head coach has already lured England skipper Harry Kane to the Allianz Arena and looks to be going all out to deliver European glory.

And the Evening Standard claim the Bavarian club are confident an agreement can be reached in 2024 with replacements more likely to be available for the Cottagers.
