Transfer Talk: Gundogan nearing Etihad exit as Barca close in
Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is close to agreeing a summer move to Barcelona.
The German veteran, 32, has spent nearly seven years at the Etihad but is set to become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Gundogan is a four-time Premier League winner under Pep Guardiola and looks set to pick up another winners' medal.
But Sport claim that the midfielder is planning on calling it time in England regardless of how many trophies City collect by the end of June and has already started planning for life abroad.
Xavi is said to be a huge fan of the 66-cap international and would be willing to offer him a three-year deal in exchange for the German accepting a lower salary than his current deal.
Gundogan scored a brace and grabbed an assist in Treble-chasing City's 3-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
The champions are also favourites to claim success in the FA Cup and Champions League and the talented technician could depart the Manchester club as a legend if he can steer them to glory.
Guardiola is believed to have conceded that it is unlikely that Gundogan will remain in the Premier League despite being desperate to keep his midfield general.
