Juventus are winning the race to sign in-demand Manchester United star Paul Pogba on a free in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Frenchman's contract is running down and overseas clubs can make an approach from January onwards.

United have so far not been able to persuade Pogba, 28, to agree an extension and are not expected to sanction a cut-price move in January.

Sportitalia journalist Rudy Galetti claims former club Juve, who scooped the playmaker on a free from Old Trafford in 2012, are ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in the queue.

Pogba began the season in sensational form but struggled to keep up his momentum and was benched for the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

After coming on as a sub, he was sent off for a wild lunge and missed yesterday's 3-0 demolition of Tottenham as he served the first of a three-game suspension.
