Liverpool are tracking the progress of Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat, 26, played every minute of the Atlas Lions' three World Cup group stage games, helping the North African side reach the last 16 of the competition for the first time since 1986.

The Netherlands-born 42-cap international is under contract with Fiorentina until 2024 and has a reported price tag of £25million.

But reports in Germany suggest Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has identified him as a possible solution to his midfield woes.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo remain top of Klopp's shortlist but Amrabat’s performances in Qatar have caught the eye.

The Merseysiders are eager to overhaul their engine room with Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara both in their 30s.

But La Viola are in no rush to offload their holding midfielder, despite Amrabat’s rumoured wish to leave the Serie A outfit.

Morocco face Spain on Tuesday after topping Group F ahead of 2018 runners-up Croatia and much-fancied Belgium.
