Tottenham will look to make amends for their stoppage-time collapse at Molineux when they entertain Wolves in the reverse fixture on Saturday afternoon.

Leading from the third minute, Ange Postecoglou’s side were undone by late strikes from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina in that November clash, which came in the middle of a run of three straight Premier League defeats.

Fourth-placed Spurs arrive at this game in much better form, having come from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Wolves lost 2-0 at home to Brentford to slip back into the bottom half, but Gary O’Neil’s men are unbeaten in their last three away league games.

Team news

Tottenham have a relatively clean bill of health right now, with only squad players Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Solomon currently ruled out through injury.

However, recent returnees Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison looked less than fully match sharp against the Seagulls.

Son Heung-min impacted the game on his return from the Asian Cup as he teed up Brennan Johnson’s 96th-minute winner.

The Spurs captain should be restored to the starting XI for this clash, with Timo Werner the most likely member of the front three to drop out.

Son’s South Korean team-mate Hwang Hee-Chan could return to the Wolves line-up as the replacement for forward Matheus Cunha, who suffered a hamstring injury last week.

Hwang could have made the bench against Brentford, according to his manager, but for some soreness in his calf.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Nathan Fraser are the alternatives to take Cunha’s place in Wolves’ attack, but no other changes are anticipated.

Skipper Son Heung-min is set to return to the starting line-up for Tottenham at home to Wolves.

The stats

Although they grabbed a stoppage-time winner at home to Brighton last weekend, Tottenham have shipped the most goals after the 90th minute in the top-flight this term (8).

Spurs have also conceded six penalties in the Premier League this season, the joint-most alongside Fulham and West Ham.

Wolves have won three of the last four Premier League clashes against Spurs, although the North London side have won more top-flight games (39) than them (26) with 13 draws.

Prediction

Spurs showed their powers of recovery against Brighton last week and keep on finding ways to take all three points at home.

This would have been a tough task for Wolves anyway, but the absence of Cunha tips the balance firmly in the hosts’ favour.

O’Neil’s side deserved their plaudits for winning 4-2 at Stamford Bridge on their last London trip, but Chelsea well and truly shot themselves in the foot that day.

Publicidad

Tottenham are not as disaster-prone as the Blues and, having come from behind to take all three points in their last two home league games, should not shirk the task if they need to do it again.

A record of only two clean sheets at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season for the hosts, allied to Wolves’ record of having scored in nine of their 12 road trips, indicates both teams can score in a Spurs win on Saturday.
