Swansea and Norwich have both won only one of their opening four Championship assignments and the pair will be hoping that they come back refocused on matters ahead after the international break.

The Swans limped to a 1-0 loss at West Brom when last in action a fortnight ago whereas Norwich got off the mark at the fourth time of asking with a gritty 1-0 success of their own at Coventry.

However, Swansea are usually pretty reliable in front of their own supporters and their two home league games this season have seen them outclass Preston in a 3-0 rout and draw 1-1 with bitter Welsh rivals Cardiff.

Norwich, meanwhile, have been beaten 2-0 away at Championship new boys Oxford and they may still be adjusting to losing the services of Gabriel Sara and Jonathan Rowe, two of their star men from last season’s playoff-achieving side.

Team news

Hosts Swansea remain without goalkeeper Andy Fisher and striker Josh Ginnelly, otherwise manager Luke Williams reportedly has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Norwich make the trip to Wales missing experienced striker Ashley Barnes as well as midfielders Christian Fassnacht and Jacob Lungi Sorensen.

The stats

Swansea have taken four points from their two home league games this season, which means they have won five of their last eight Championship outings at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans were 2-1 winners at home to Norwich last season and they have lost only one of the last five meetings between the pair.

Despite making last season’s Championship playoffs, Norwich have won only four of their last 16 away league games.

Publicidad

The Canaries have won only one of their last nine Championship fixtures.

Both teams have scored in only two of Swansea’s last 11 Championship encounters while one or both teams have failed to score in Norwich’s last five away league trips.

Prediction

Norwich were 1-0 winners away at Coventry in their last league match before the international break, but the Canaries still have plenty to prove on their travels.

Coventry are still adjusting to a mass overhaul in personnel and prior to that victory Norwich had won only three of their last 15 away league games.

That poor away form was despite them making the Championship playoffs last season and in Swansea they face a side that are particularly stubborn in front of their own supporters.

Norwich have lost 2-0 at newly-promoted Oxford already this season and they were beaten 2-1 on their trip to South Wales last term, suggesting that home advantage could be vital for the Swans.

Swansea have won five of their last eight home league matches over this season and last and they should be confident of extending that fine record at the Liberty Stadium.
