Raheem Sterling has confirmed he is leaving Manchester City — with his switch to Chelsea expected to be sealed shortly.

The England forward has spent seven seasons with the Citizens, making 337 appearances, scoring 131 goals and winning 11 major titles.

But after seeing his game time reduced under boss Pep Guardiola last term, the 27-year-old had been linked with the exit door this summer.

Confirming his departure, Sterling wrote on Twitter: "Seven seasons. Eleven major trophies. A lifetime of memories.

"To everyone involved with Manchester City, my respect for you couldn't be greater.

"What a ride it's been. I am thankful for the ups and the downs. As it's the ups and downs that have, at times, tested my strength and resolve. And enabled me to stand here in front of you as the best possible version of myself.

"I arrived in Manchester a 20-year-old. Today, I leave as a man. It's been an honour to wear the shirt of Manchester City."

The 77-cap international is expected to become Chelsea’s first signing of new owner Todd Boehly’s reign at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling featured 47 times in all competitions for City last season, scoring 17 goals and grabbing eight assists.
