Newcastle will be looking to build on their impressive recent results when they face Bournemouth in the Premier League at St James' Park on Saturday.

The Magpies are on a four-game unbeaten run in all competitions and they will be eyeing revenge over the Cherries, who won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium in November.

Team news

Newcastle's treatment room remains full, with Joelinton, Nick Pope, Matt Targett, Elliot Anderson, Alexander Isak and Joe Willock all ruled out.

There are also doubts over Callum Wilson and Jacob Murphy, while Sandro Tonali is suspended.

Bournemouth are without Ryan Fredericks, Max Aarons, Tyler Adams and James Hill due to injury, while Philip Billing is serving the second game of his suspension.

Goalkeeper Nick Pope is one of a number of injury absentees for Eddie Howe's Newcastle United.

The stats

Newcastle are unbeaten in four matches heading into this contest, recording away victories over Fulham (FA Cup), Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest and drawing 4-4 at home to Luton.

Publicidad

The Magpies have scored 51 league goals this season, only three teams have managed more, but they have struggled at the back of late, with no clean sheet in their last seven top-flight games.

Both teams to score has landed in Newcastle's last six league matches, with a combined 32 goals produced during those fixtures.

Bournemouth have gone five games without a win in the league, losing three and drawing two, while they have conceded 11 goals across their last five away assignments in all competitions.

The Cherries have scored in each of their last nine away fixtures, having last failed to hit the back of the net at Everton on October 7.

Prediction

Newcastle have been hitting their stride in recent weeks and they will feel confident of claiming all three points against Bournemouth in front of a raucous St James' Park crowd.

The Magpies have only turned out on Tyneside twice in 2024, losing 3-2 to Manchester City before the thrilling 4-4 draw against Luton at the start of February and those two results suggest there will be goals on Saturday.

While Eddie Howe's side are having no problems in the final third, netting 20 times across their last eight outings, they are struggling to keep teams at bay and have just one clean sheet from their last five home matches.

That should give the Cherries hope they can at least get on the scoresheet, something they have done in their last nine away games in all competitions, but a win may be out of reach for them.

The Cherries are stumbling in the league and the 3-1 defeat at Fulham last time out extended their winless run away from home in the top-flight to three matches,
