LiveScore Racing Preview: Sandown, September 15, 2021
Sandown Park hosts a midweek Flat meeting on Wednesday and they are boasting a Listed contest to sprinkle some autumn quality on the afternoon.
The seven-race card is from 1.50pm-5.10pm, with the Chasemore Farm Fortune Stakes at 3.30pm the feature race over a mile on the Esher turf.
And we have selected five horses for you to follow.
1.50pm - Havana Grey At Whitsbury Manor Stud Handicap (5f)
Seneca Chief fended off Glamorous Breeze over C&D five days ago, the latter done no favours when wandering across the track late on.
With the winner up 4lb, there is chance of a turnaround now.
MELODY KING won at Hamilton over this trip in August and has run good races in defeat at Musselburgh and back there since.
He might well have scored 19 days ago granted better luck in the run and he is a major contender now with champion jockey Oisin Murphy taking over.
LiveScore selection: Melody King
2.55pm - Blandford Bloodstock Novice Stakes (7f)
Atheby took in a Group 3 contest over C&D last month on his second start.
Jane Chapple-Hyam's runner was not disgraced but he may need to improve to take advantage of this class-drop, as newcomers Damaar and WODETON are useful looking on paper.
Andrew Balding's son of Wootton Bassett cost £100,000 as a two-year-old and should be primed for this first start with the champion jockey riding.
LiveScore selection: Wodeton
3.30pm - Chasemore Farm Fortune Stakes (Listed, 1m)
The likes of Accidental Agent, Sir Busker and Escobar are familiar names capable of big efforts in this company if near their best.
Perotto could be one to come on the scene late with a challenge but MOSTAHDAF gets the nod.
John and Thady Gosden's Frankel colt has been off since a flop in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
He had won all three starts prior to that Group 1 assignment, including a Listed event over C&D in May, and he could well get back on the up now.
LiveScore selection: Mostahdaf
4.05pm - Coln Valley Stud Fillies' Handicap (1m)
Spirit Of The Bay comes here seeking a four-timer and, despite a 6lb rise for scoring at Kempton on the Polytrack last time, commands lots of respect for Clive Cox and Hector Crouch.
Deep Sigh and Flying West are others to consider but a drop in trip looks ideal for PROFESSIONAL WIDOW.
Richard Spencer's filly won at Nottingham (1m½f, good to soft) in May from 2lb lower and on her most recent start here she finished fourth when failing to see out 1m1f as well as the other principles.
James Doyle stays on board and this trip should be ideal back here.
LiveScore selection: Professional Widow
4.40pm - Land Force & Cable Bay Highclere Handicap (1m2f)
ZIGGY was an emphatic winner at Nottingham over this trip on good ground back in July, streaking some six-lengths clear of the field under Richard Kingscote.
An 11lb hike was meted out for that stylish success but the Sixties Icon gelding still ran well in a stronger contest at Glorious Goodwood in his only start since.
He was beaten by a length in fourth spot there and did not get the clearest of runs. He may well be good enough to make it two wins in three for trainer Harry Eustace with Kingscote back on board.
LiveScore selection: Ziggy
