Love enjoys perfect return

It was all smiles for trainer Aidan O'Brien on Wednesday as Love returned from a 300-day break to land the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot. 

Looking to back up last season's form, which saw the filly win the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket, Epsom Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks at York, Love made all under Ryan Moore to score in determined fashion. 

It was a solid return to the track for Love, who had Audarya in second and Armory back in third, and O'Brien spoke about what's next for his charge. 

He said on ITV: "She is going to come on a lot for the run. We're over the moon with her. She's very genuine and brave. 

"All the races are open to her. The King George, the Eclipse, all of them."

Appleby hints at Melbourne run

Trainer Charlie Appleby responded "we'll see" when quizzed about the chances of Kemari being given a run in the Melbourne Cup in November. 

Under the guidance of William Buick, Kemari produced a brilliant performance to win the Queen's Vase on day two of Royal Ascot, holding off the fast-finishing Wordsworth to claim a length-and-a-half success. 

Speaking after the race to ITV, Appleby praised the ride of Buick before being asked whether his charge could be heading to Flemington later this year. 

"I have to give William a lot of credit, he was very excited about him when he won at Yarmouth," he said. "He did do a nice piece of work last week but he definitely came forward from that Yarmouth experience.

"Hopefully he's going to make up into a nice Cup horse for next year. A Melbourne Cup horse for this year? Well. We'll see."

Gosden setting sights higher

John Gosden says connections are likely to aim higher after Indie Angel sprang a surprise to win the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot on day two. 

Indie Angel, under Frankie Dettori, bided her time in the first half of the race before charging through to win by two and a half lengths from Lady Bowthorpe and Queen Power. 

That victory was the 75th for Dettori at Royal Ascot, a stunning achievement for the Italian maestro, and thoughts are already turning towards his ride's next outing. 

Speaking on ITV, Gosden said: "You've got to be looking forwards. She's now won a Group Two so maybe you start trying to climb even higher up the ladder. 

"We won it last year (with Nazeef) and there are nice races like the Sun Chariot and the nice fillies' race (Falmouth) at the July meeting for her, so those are possibilities."

O'Brien quartet set for Ascot's Friday feature

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Mother Earth heads 13 contenders for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday, the penultimate day of the prestigious meeting. 

Mother Earth, winner of the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May, will be joined in the race by stablemate Empress Josephine, who landed the Irish 1,000 Guineas. 

One of O'Brien's sons, Joseph, has Pretty Gorgeous, the mount of Frankie Dettori, gunning for glory, while his other son Donnacha has his hopes pinned on Shale. 

The Coronation Stakes is a Group One contest for three-year-old fillies over one mile and this premier contest is sure to provide the Berkshire crowd with lots to cheers.
