Colwill confident spell at left-back will serve him well
Levi Colwill is relishing being a Chelsea regular and is happy to continue filling in wherever Mauricio Pochettino needs him.
The England international returned to Stamford Bridge in the summer after an impressive loan spell with Brighton last season.
And he has firmly established himself in Pochettino's young side, despite having to play out of position at left-back.
The central defender, 20, told Chelsea's official website: "Like the team, there have been ups and downs this season.
"Obviously, I'm playing in a different position — everyone knows I'm a centre-back — but I'm trying to help the team and learn as much as I can to help me in the future.
"There have been good moments and I'm happy to keep learning for the future when I return to centre-half.
"We're learning a lot as a young team, which is important for the future. But we're improving, you can feel that around the building.
"It's a group of new players that have never played with each other before. We need to adapt and understand everyone's attributes and build from there.
"We're improving and that's the main thing."
Colwill has made 23 appearances in all competitions this term for the Blues, who start 2024 sitting 10th in the Premier League table.
And the defender, who made his England debut in October's 1-0 win over Australia, is enjoying working under the watchful eye of Pochettino.
He added: "He's a good guy and I have a good relationship with him. It's one based on trust — that's a big part of it.
"I trust him and he trusts me. So we keep on building that relationship and hopefully we can get the wins for him.
"He knows I am a centre-back but he knows this will help me in the future.
"When I go back to centre-half, I'll understand what the full-back needs from me a lot more. That will make a bit of difference.
"And it's got me in the England squad and I've made my debut. That might not have happened if the gaffer hadn't used me there."
