Janice Cayman fired Leicester to their second win over Everton in the space of five days.

Cayman’s goal, early in the second half, secured a 1-0 Women’s Super League victory to make it a double success after Wednesday’s 5-1 League Cup win.

Another defeat left Everton still looking for a first home win in the WSL this season.

Leicester’s first chance came when a half-clearance fell to Jutta Rantala, whose shot was kept out by Everton keeper Courtney Brosnan.

Everton full-back Heather Payne then raced clear down the right and put in a superb cross for Katja Snoeijs, whose effort clipped the crossbar.

The hosts should have gone ahead when Emma Bissell was played through, but she fired wide of the near post when a shot across goal looked the better option.

Brosnan saved well again from Rantala and also blocked a Lena Petermann drive before Everton almost scored on the counter-attack.

Kathrine Kuhl laid the ball off to Snoejis, whose deflected effort was brilliantly kept out by Leicester keeper Lize Kop.

The breakthrough came seven minutes into the second half when Cayman turned on the edge of the box and curled the ball past Brosnan inside the far post.

Nicole Momiki almost doubled Leicester’s lead from the edge of the area but her shot drifted wide.
