O'Brien excited by Love's chances
Trainer Aidan O'Brien says superstar filly Love is in fine shape as she prepares to lock horns with Adayar in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot.
Love grabbed the headlines last season when she completed a Classic double in the 1000 Guineas and the Oaks.
Adayar has already won the Derby this season and trainer Charlie Appleby will be hoping he can become the first horse since Galileo 20 years ago to complete the Derby-King George double.
Saturday's contest promises to be one for the ages but O'Brien believes his charge will take some stopping.
He told said: "We were delighted to be able to give her the run in the Prince of Wales. She ended up making the running but she's very straightforward and very genuine — and everything has gone well with her since.
"She's very versatile. She had the pace to win a Guineas and seemed to get the Oaks trip very well. For any Flat horse, you want nice ground — and she's a nice mover."
Dreamloper shines again
Ed Walker's Dreamloper proved her class at Ascot on Friday as she bounced back from a flat run at Royal Ascot to land the Join Sunflower Lanyard Scheme Valiant Stakes.
The four-year-old finished 10th of 18th at the Royal meeting in June, with Oisin Murphy unable to get a tune out of his ride on that occasion.
He had no issues this time around, though, with Dreamloper handling the step up to Group Three in fine style.
Murphy kicked for home just after the two-furlong marker and Walker reckons his team deserve special credit.
He said: "Today she showed how good she could be. Oisin was very good on her as well.
"I must give a massive shout to Molly Stratton, who rides her every day. She's not the easiest filly and Molly has done a great job with her."
Destiny Queen catches the eye on debut
Connections of Destiny Queen were celebrating on Friday after watching their charge romp to victory at odds of 28/1 in the John Guest Racing British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes at Ascot.
The daughter of Al Wukair was not expected to compete on her first run at a track but jockey Pat Cosgrave guided her home in perfect fashion as she finished two lengths ahead of Loquace.
Baker does not have the best of records with first-time winners but is excited by her potential.
He said; "I know what I hope she might be but I didn't expect to see it today. There are some nice targets for fillies like her but we'll probably put her away and run her in the Guineas."
Knavesmire awaits Mohaafeth
All eyes will be on York on Saturday as William Haggas' Mohaafeth tries to make it five wins on the bounce for connections.
The son of Frankel was taken out of the Derby due to unsuitable ground earlier this season but he ended up winning the Group Three Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot instead.
He has already won on two occasions at Newmarket while also getting off the market at Lingfield back in March.
Haggas has also entered Montatham into Saturday's York Stakes and the duo will need to overcome Armory, Juan Elcano and Bangkok.
