Hammer lacks the right tools

West Ham striker Michail Antonio believes team-mate Gianluca Scamacca will need to play under a different manager to showcase his abilities in the Premier League.

Scamacca, 24, arrived at the London Stadium last summer for £35million but only made 11 Premier League starts in 2022-23.

David Moyes went on record earlier in the season and criticised the 6ft 5in striker, saying he needed to improve his fitness.

And now Antonio has had his say on the matter. Speaking on the FFS podcast, he said: "I'm going to be honest with you lot, he's actually quality.

"He is a quality player. The problem is, he can't play the way the gaffer plays.

"He needs a different type of manager to play his type of football.

"You can see that the ball comes into him and it sticks and he's tidy.

"But how David Moyes plays is more like, if you're up front you're dealing with scraps and you've got to be more of a fighter. And that's not him."

Bedford lands Brentford role

Lydia Bedford is Brentford's new Under-18s coach

Former Arsenal women's assistant coach Lydia Bedford has taken over Brentford's Under-18s.

Bedford helped the Gunners compete at the top end of the Women's Super League and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League this season.

She will be joined by Jon-Paul Pittman, who was previously a coach at League Two Forest Green.

On the appointment, director of football Phil Giles said: "I'm really pleased that we've managed to attract such talented coaches as Lydia and Jon-Paul to our U-18s for next year.

"We undertook an extensive recruitment process for these roles. Lydia and Jon-Paul were the two best candidates, and thankfully we were able to finalise their recruitment to the staff.

"I'm sure they will excel, and we all look forward to working with them through pre-season and beyond."

Bayern swoop for Chelsea duo

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Chelsea duo Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson.

The pair have enjoyed successful stints in England under Emma Hayes but have now decided to test themselves in Germany, signing deals that run until 2026.

Danish forward Harder, who scored eight goals in the Women's Super League this season, said: "Bayern is a great club, the players and the team have a lot of potential. I really wanted to be a part of it.

"I had a good time in the Bundesliga and am happy to be returning after three years.

"How the German national team played at the European Championship last summer shows how the league has developed."

Former Blues skipper Eriksson mirrored her team-mate's thoughts, saying: "I had a good feeling from the start. Bayern is an extraordinary club with an impressive history.

"I'm really looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues, winning together, developing as an individual and also getting to know the culture of the club.

"The potential is just huge and everything I've heard about the club and Munich has been nothing but positive."

Ange appeal

Ange Postecoglou is a frontrunner to become Tottenham's next manager

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou would be an excellent appointment for Tottenham, according to his ex-assistant Rado Vidosic.

Postecoglou, 57, is on the verge of completing a domestic treble with the Scottish champions and has been heavily linked with the vacant manager job in North London.

Vidosic, who worked with the Australian at Brisbane Roar, said: "Tottenham are a huge club.

"Looking at Tottenham, they are a good team, they've got some great players, and I think someone like Ange could change their fortunes in one year, without a doubt.

"If he thinks that is the right job for him, he's going dive in and he's going to transform them, and I think they're going to be definitely back in the top four, and have a huge impact in the Premier League.

"He's got this ability to change a good team into a great team. I wouldn't be surprised that there may be some pathway for him to maybe even take over at Manchester City one day, once Pep [Guardiola] decides to leave."

Milan's fashion show

AC Milan have revealed their new home kit ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The unique new stripes create a repeat "M" visual in the centre of the shirt that the club say represents the city of Milan and their progressive nature.

Milan will debut their kit on June 4 in the final Serie A match of the season and it is available to buy from PUMA stores.

Wembley winners

Emirates have announced this year's FA Cup final mascots following a nationwide search.

Working with the FA and non-league clubs, Emirates travelled up and down the country to surprise young fans from teams including Wrexham, Eastbourne Borough, Boreham Wood and Alvechurch.

10-year-old Koby Thomas, who was diagnosed with leukaemia last summer is a long-standing supporter of Alvechurch and follows the team alongside his friend Owen Jordan while also playing for the youth team.

Koby will be joined by Logan Garrard, Sophia and Amelie Paviour as well as Mia Matthews on Saturday as Manchester United and Manchester City go head-to-head in the capital.

Logan, eight, has travelled all over the country to cheer on Boreham Wood while Sophia, 10, and Amelie, 12, have used their love for Eastbourne as a source of comfort as their mother battles terminal cancer.

Mia, 10, comes from a family of Wrexham fans and spent many weekends with her grandfather — who has sadly passed away — watching the Red Dragons and will represent them as a mascot on FA Cup final day.
