After predicting AZ Alkmaar to see off Lazio in a game with both teams scoring on Thursday at 4/1, Bobbie Jackson takes a look at the best bets for some goalscorer action this weekend.

It could be argued that Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins was unlucky not to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Watkins has netted nine Premier League goals this season and six of those have arrived since the turn of the year.

Bournemouth, who have shipped a league-high 51 goals, travel to Aston Villa on Saturday and Watkins looks the most likely candidate to get on the scoresheet.

Former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas has scored 145 goals in 292 games since returning to Spain with Celta Vigo in 2015.

Aspas is the fourth-highest scorer in La Liga this term, registering 11 times, and he ended a five-game drought last time out when bagging a brace against Rayo Vallecano.

His first goal of the campaign came at home to Espanyol in August and Celta head to the Catalan outfit on Saturday.

Espanyol have shipped 20 goals at home — more than any other club when hosting — and only Elche have picked up fewer points on their own patch.

Iago Aspas will fancy his chances of scoring against Espanyol again given the Catalans poor defensive home record

Victor Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer and it is easy to see why as he continues to score consistently.

Publicidad

He is the leading marksman in Serie A with 19 goals to his name and has scored 23 in 28 appearances across all competitions, including a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Nigeria international has a great chance to further enhance his tally in front of the target when Napoli travel to Torino.

Torino have lost their last four meetings with Napoli and Osimhen has scored twice previously against the Turin-based club.

Marcus Rashford is enjoying his best-ever goalscoring campaign at club level and he has been firing them in with incredible regularity across all competitions since returning from the World Cup.

His 27 goals across all competitions in 2022-23 is five better than his previous best haul in a single season and 19 of those have come since returning from Qatar.

Manchester United, who have already won the Carabao Cup, are looking to book their spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup when they host Fulham on Sunday.

Rashford looks a strong option to open the scoring at Old Trafford with nine of his 27 efforts breaking the deadlock already this campaign.

Getafe sit 18th in La Liga and are only in the relegation zone on goal difference after a recent upturn in performances — losing only once in their last six games.

Publicidad

Striker Enes Unal has played a big role in boosting their survival hopes after scoring seven times in his last six appearances, including a brace in each of his last two.

They are unbeaten in three at home, winning the last two, and will be confident of adding further points to their tally when Sevilla visit.

Sevilla picked up just 10 points on their travels from 12 outings, winning twice, and they have conceded 24 times — only Elche, Almeria and Real Valladolid have a worse defensive record.
