Trent Alexander-Arnold, Anthony Joshua and Rory McIlroy are among the leading sports stars to join the investment group who recently bought into the Alpine Formula 1 team.

Otro Capital announced a £173million stake in the Renault-owned team in June.

Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who also own League Two side Wrexham, had already been announced as part of the group and a host of other high-profile stars across the world of sport have followed suit.

Alexander-Arnold, Joshua and McIlroy are joined by former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, tennis ace Alexander Zverev and NFL duo Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

As part of a joint statement, Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold said: "I'm excited to be joining Otro Capital's group as an investor into Alpine F1 along with my brother Tyler.

"Having been to Formula 1 races as a fan, I love the high-pressure environment of the paddock and I've seen first-hand how incredibly impressive the Alpine team is.

"Our shared goal as an investment group is to help contribute to its continued success on the grid, at a time when F1 is facing incredible growth as a sport.

"As a footballer, I understand the importance of teamwork, innovation and determination in achieving goals."

Former heavyweight champion boxer Joshua described the investment as "an opportunity I couldn't turn down".
