Doncaster and over 1.5 goals

Doncaster have been transformed from League Two relegation candidates to promotion hopefuls in a little over two months and will fancy their chances of sealing a place in the fourth-tier play-off final when facing Crewe in their semi-final second leg at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Rovers are used to playing catch up but they have a 2-0 lead to defend against Crewe, who were brushed aside at the Mornflake Stadium on Monday.

Crewe were automatic promotion contenders for large parts of the season but they limped into the play-offs, taking only seven points from their final nine league games.

However, they achieved notable away wins over Mansfield (1-0) and Stockport (3-1) earlier in the season and will be targeting another big performance to get their promotion push back on track.

Team news

Doncaster must make do without injured contingent Ben Close, Liam Ravenhill, Caolan Lavery and Bobby Faulkner.

They will make late checks on Jon Taylor and George Miller, who missed the opening leg, and Harrison Biggins (hamstring).

Crewe's injured quintet of Tom Booth, Harvey Davies, Jack Powell, Luke Offord and Owen Lunt were absent from the first leg and are set to remain on the sidelines.

Chris Long, Ed Turns and Conor Thomas made the bench on Monday and will be assessed to determine their readiness for potential starts.

The stats

Doncaster have won 11 of their last 12 matches.

Rovers have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven fixtures.

Publicidad

Four of Doncaster's last five games have generated at least four goals.

Crewe have won just one of their last 10 fixtures.

The Railwaymen have not won by more than one goal in any of their last 13 fixtures.

Prediction

Doncaster have been League Two's form team over the last couple of months and they can set up a trip to Wembley by defeating Crewe in South Yorkshire.

With 35 League games played, Rovers were down in 20th place and were separated from the play-offs by 13 positions and 14 points.

However, they have been almost faultless in recent times and were comfortable 2-0 winners away to Crewe on Monday.

Crewe have suffered from multiple injury blows and a dip in confidence and their promotion push appears to have petered out.

Lee Bell's side finished on the same points (71) as Doncaster, but they were second best in the opening leg and are unlikely to fare much better just four days later.
