Relegation-threatened Leeds earned a valuable point following a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The hosts dominated the game and created numerous chances with Conor Gallagher firing just wide of the top corner from the edge of the area with 12 minutes remaining.

Illan Meslier was forced into a double save from Wilfried Zaha soon after as the Eagles pushed for a late winner, but were unable to break the deadlock.

The draw leaves the visitors five points clear of the relegation zone but Everton have a game in hand on the Whites.

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch took an optimistic view of the result and performance.

He said: "It wasn't our best night, however, a recipe of not losing and finding a way to pick up points, we will take the positives.

"We need to find ways of being a bit more dangerous but a clean sheet and a draw is a big, big positive.

"Kalvin Phillips is a big presence in our team and a big boost to have him back. I thought both teams fought for the points but it was respectful.

"The pressure was always going to be big no matter what."

Crystal Palace created more than enough chances to beat Leeds, but were not clinical

Meanwhile, Palace boss Patrick Vieira rued his side's failure to claim maximum points.

He said: "I can be frustrated and the team can be frustrated. We played some really good football with a high tempo and were the better team but we couldn't find the net.

"I was pleased and happy with the determination we showed. We just lacked that bit of quality to score those goals.

"I was happy Wilf Zaha kept his cool because it looked like they planned to stop him by fouling him. That won't be the first time teams try to frustrate him.

"The team deserved more than just the point."

Palace are now winless in three league games (one draw, two defeats) after winning three of five before that (two draws).

Meanwhile, Leeds are unbeaten in five league games (three wins, two draws) after losing their previous six in a row.

Since their return to the Premier League in 2013-14, Palace have failed to score in 123 games in the competition, 21 more than any other side in that time. The Eagles have also played out 27 goalless draws, second only to Manchester United (30).

Marsch has picked up 11 points in his seven league games with Leeds, seven more than they managed in Marcelo Bielsa's last seven in charge.

Meslier has made more saves than any other goalkeeper in the top flight this season (125), registering five or more stops in 12 games in 2021-22, also more than anyone else.

Palace mustered 17 shots without scoring, last attempting more without a goal in a league game in December 2018 against Cardiff (31).
