Mark Wood praised Ben Duckett's "amazing" innings after the batter hit the second-fastest Test century by an England opener.

The tourists had earlier bowled India out for 445 and are firmly back in the Third Test ahead of the third day following Duckett's fine knock.

Nottinghamshire's left-hander, 29, brought up his ton off just 88 deliveries before closing on 133 not out with England on 207-2.

His hundred was also the third-fastest against India and the quickest by an Englishman against them.

Wood, who completed a four-wicket haul before his team-mate stepped into the spotlight, suggested the hosts had no answer to Duckett's swashbuckling innings.

He told TNT Sports: "That was amazing. As a bowler it's class to watch when you've done all the toil and you get to sit in the dressing room and watch something like that.

"Sometimes it looked like India weren't sure on their fields because he'd just hit it to the next place. He'd sweep behind and he'd sweep in front.

"If we can get India's bowlers into their second and third spells tomorrow we'll be happy.

"They're cramping after seven overs so when they get to 25 hopefully it'll be hard for them."

It was not all bad news for India as legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took his 500th Test wicket with the dismissal of Zak Crawley.

Mark Wood took four wickets as India were bowled out for 445

Ashwin, 37, is just the ninth player in history to reach that landmark and was quick to mention the help he has had along the way.

He said: "It has been quite a long journey.

"I would like to dedicate my 500th wicket to my father. He has been there through thick and thin. He has had heart attacks every time I have played.

"The game is in the balance now. The surfaces we have played on have enabled the batters to have a reasonable amount of time but the pitch will be tough on day five.

"England have found themselves in such situations in the series and we found a way to come back into the match. The game is neck and neck."
