Coventry City will fancy their chances of recording back-to-back league victories for the first time this season when they host Blackburn Rovers at The Coventry Building Society Arena on Wednesday.

The Sky Blues endured a slow start to the season, losing both of their first two games, and it seemed that they were suffering a play-off hangover after losing in last year's final at Wembley.

However, they have since been a tough nut to crack, which cannot be said about Blackburn.

Jon Dahl Tomasson's side have lost three in a row in the Championship and they are struggling to string results together this season.

Team news

Unless there any late withdrawals, home boss Mark Robins should be able to stick with the same team that beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 last time out.

Milan van Ewijk, Ben Sheaf and Kasey Palmer remain sidelined for the Sky Blues, but Robins' team are otherwise in a good place on the injury front.

After another defeat, Rovers boss Tomasson may tinker with his team once again for Wednesday's fixture.

Goalkeeper Aynsley Pears will play no part due to an ankle injury and he is likely to be replaced by Leopold Wahlstedt.

Harry Leonard is unlikely to return until after the international break, meaning Sammie Szmodics will continue in his false nine role.

The stats

Coventry have not lost to Blackburn since October 2020, a run of five matches in the second tier.

They are unbeaten in four at home this season, while they have only lost three games in front of their own supporters since January.

After a five-match unbeaten run away from home, Blackburn have now lost two on the spin on their travels, conceding seven goals in the process.

They have found the net on a regular basis, though, only failing to score in one of their previous 11 matches in the second tier.

Prediction

The Championship is one of the most unpredictable leagues, while some would argue it is the hardest to pick a winning result.

Blackburn's inconsistent form all season has made them difficult to back with any enthusiasm, and their recent performances on the road will have worried Tomasson.

The visitors are conceding goals for fun and, after letting in 10 in three in the Championship, they should come unstuck against a rigid Coventry.
