Crisis club Cardiff are bottom of the Championship going into this game and are without a permanent manager, having sacked Erol Bulut.

Millwall will be looking to take advantage and claim their first away win in the Championship this season, having enjoyed a 3-1 victory at home to Preston at the weekend.

Team news

Cardiff’s interim manager Omer Riza could bring Joel Bagan back into the starting line-up, with the defender having served a one-match suspension.

The Bluebirds were without the injured Ryotaro Tsunoda, Jesper Daland, Aaron Ramsey, Kion Etete and Isaak Davies in the 4-1 away defeat to Hull over the weekend.

Millwall boss Neil Harris had Calum Scanlon, Billy Mitchell, Adam Mayor, Josh Coburn and Tom Bradshaw out with injuries for their victory against Preston on Saturday.

The stats

Cardiff's dismal start to the new season saw the Bluebirds part ways with Erol Bulut

Cardiff have only claimed a single point from a possible 21 and are the only club in the Championship that are pointless at home this season, having lost all four of their games at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Publicidad

Millwall have yet to win away from home in the league, though they have drawn on their most recent trips to Hull and QPR.

Cardiff have a good record in this fixture against the Lions, winning four, drawing six and losing just once from their last 11 home league games against these opponents.

Millwall have won four of their last five matches against Cardiff in the Championship, losing once.

Prediction

Cardiff’s disastrous start to the season took another blow on Saturday, as they suffered a heavy defeat at Hull.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Bluebirds and the first under their caretaker boss Riza, as the search continues for another permanent manager.

Whoever takes on the role has a daunting task ahead of them. As well as conceding a league-high total of 17 goals, no team has scored less goals in the Championship than Cardiff’s paltry total of two.

In contrast, Millwall are amongst the top scorers in the Championship. They will view this game as a golden opportunity to claim a second successive victory for the first time this season, while also claiming their first away win of the campaign.

That lack of three away points does give pause for thought. A better value option, could be for the in-form forward Watmore to score again, against the leakiest defence in this division.
